1970 CHEVY EL CAMINO 99.5% ORIGINAL SURVIVOR...NOT RESTORED
THIS CAR IS TODAY AS IT WAS DELIVERED IN 1970!!! IT HAS ALL ORIGINAL... * PAINT, INTERIOR, T-3 HEADLIGHTS, BELTS (with orig. GM part #s engraved on them), HOSES, DOG DISH HUBCAPS, AND ORIGINAL F78-14 UNIROYAL MADE IN THE U.S.A. GLAS-BELT TIRES. EVERYTHING IS ORIGINAL UNDER THE HOOD EXCEPT FOR THE BATTERY. ALL MATCHING NUMBERS AND DATE CODES, 6CYL.3-SPEED, 10 BOLT REAR. PAINT, INTERIOR, AND EVEN THE PLASTICHROME ON THE DASH AND STEERING WHEEL IS MINT. THERE WERE ONLY1303 OF THESE ELCAMINOS PRODUCED LIKE THIS WHICH MAKES IT MORE RARE THAN A LS5 OR EVEN A LS6 CAR!!! EVERYTHING WORKS CORRECTLY AND IT RUNS AND DRIVES AS IT DID IN 1970 SINCE IT HAS ONLY 5575 ORIGINAL MILES. THE CAR IS AND HAS BEEN STORED ON JACK STANDS (in winter) AND ALWAYS WITH THE DOORS ONLY CLOSED ON THE FIRST LATCH SO THE WEATHERSTRIP DOESN'T COMPRESS. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PROTECTO PLATE, FACTORY DOOR EDGE GUARD (on vehicle since new), FRONT AND REAR LICENSE PLATE SCREWS WITH THE FACTORY ENVALOPE, AND OWNERS MANUAL. Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car
Wed, 20 Feb 2013We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future
Wed, 19 Nov 2014The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.
