I have for sale a 1987 Chevrolet El Camino Conquista. It is a V-8 305, automatic, a/c (not currently working), power steering and brakes, tilt wheel, cruise control, power windows, door locks, and mirrors. It has the factory A/M F/M radio which still works. It has the bucket seats and console. This is a decent El Camino. It runs great. It is a driver quality car with only 109,000 miles on it. It looks very nice with a few imperfections here and there, but a very good looking truck. All the lights, gauges, etc. work good. The power windows and cruise control work. The a/c does not at the present time. It has a newer exhaust system on it, and sounds really good when you are standing behind it. The bed is free from rust with a bed mat in it so it can be used. There is just a little bubbling of the paint behind the rear wheels, as noted in the picture. That is all the rust that I can find on it. All the glass is good. The tires are good. It's just a good looking driver quality vehicle. The V-8's with the buckets and console are getting hard to find. For any questions, or to schedule an appointment to view the vehicle, please call or text me @ 812 499-0694. I am also open to buy it now offers. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. If you would like to check out the vehicle, please do so PRIOR to bidding. If you are the winning bidder, I will need a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of the auction end, and the remainder of the payment within 7 days of the auction end. The payment will need to be in the form of cash, cashier's check, or bank transfer. The car and title will only be released once the funds have cleared. Good luck, and haappy bidding.

Race Recap: 2013 Indianapolis 500 better than Bollywood; all the emotion, none of the music [spoilers]

Mon, 27 May 2013

If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
But this year's race delivered more than anyone expected, from the 250,000 fans to the commentators to the IndyCar series itself and, finally, to the guy who hopped through a two-mile window on Lap 197 to take the lead and keep it until the end.

GM to make most cars LTE hotspots for 2015

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

General Motors isn't the first automaker to deliver in-car Internet access, but a proposed plan announced today could make the technology more widespread than any of its competitors have offered. By the 2015 model year, most Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC products in the US and Canada will offer 4G LTE mobile broadband access. Initially, GM will just be pairing with AT&T to deliver this service, but additional carriers will be revealed in the future.
Current in-car Wi-Fi hot spots are limited to 3G, but GM says that 4G LTE is 10 times faster than 3G service and will allow for full Internet access, including streaming video for entertainment as well as services like real-time traffic updates and navigation driving directions. There is also no need for a paired smartphone with this new system, which should make it easier to use, and GM and AT&T will also be working together to develop new apps for customers.
Buyers can expect to start seeing 4G LTE in their cars starting next year, and GM is already planning to expand the service to other global markets as well. All of the information from GM's announcement is posted in a press release below.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
