1985 CHEVY EL CAMINO SS

Up for auction we are offering a one owner El Camino SS with original miles and 90% original paint. Was professionally tubbed out. Inside of bed needs paint work to finish the job properly. Was told from the person I purchased it from it is a 383 Stroker motor NOT sure what exact motor it is. To the best of my memory I was told that it has a 583 Rear and a 400 Turbo Automatic with a shift kit in it. Please look at the pictures to satisfy yourself. No rust at all. Interior was re done with bucket seats and matching door panels/headliner, very clean. Garage kept its whole life. Side exhaust, this is a very healthy sounding car. I have drove for 500 miles, with no problems (overheating, or of any type). Roll cage is in interior with side bars cut out to get in/out easier.

This is a car that you would be proud to drive to any car show!! The reserve is set well under what it would cost to build the car. Selling it to buy a new toy. Have fun bidding, this will make someone a nice toy!!

Will help with shipping if needed

Please email if you have any questions or would like to the car. Serious bidders only.

$1,000 deposit required for the winning bidder within 24 hours of auction closing. However, car will not be released until payment is received in full.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Mon, 20 Jun 2011

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
