One of a kind loaded 1982 El Camino front wheel drive prototype This loaded El Camino was given to me by a friend who was a GM Mechanic (I am not) who has since passed away. He always said this prototype would get 30 mpg on hwy with the 3800 engine. I have taken it to one car show when I first got it about five years ago and it received a first place. Since that time of use, there are a few things that no longer make it a show car in my book “not perfect”. Heater does not shut off, air no longer works, dash lights don't come on, horn does not blow and paint is not as shinny as it once was but body is still nice. It has been my daily driver since I have had it because it gets very good gas mileage. I have always stored it during winters so the body is clean and this year it would be time to put it away for the season but I can use the extra space so I am letting it go to the highest bidder over starting price. I am starting with a very very low price but being this is the only Front Wheel Drive El Camino I have ever seen I would think it will go for much more but time will tell. I think it was build with a Park Ave (seats say ParkAve) so it rides and drive very nice. It's a one of a kind that I know of. Auction winner must provide $500.00 deposit within 48 Hrs, either through Pay Pal or cashier's check overnight mail. I can assist with shipping arrangements but no cost... GM recalls select Chevy Cruze, Sonic and Buick Verano models over airbag issue
Wed, 14 Nov 2012General Motors is recalling certain 2012 Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic models due to a defect in the driver's airbag system. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbag has a shorting bar which may contact two internal terminals. If that happens during a crash, the supplemental restraint may not deploy, increasing the risk of driver injury. The recall includes a total of 2,949 units.
GM will contact owners and replace the steering wheel airbag coil at no cost. At this point, it's unclear when the recall will begin, though owners may contact the automaker at 1-800-521-7300 for more information. You may also take a closer look at the full NHTSA notice below.
Next-gen Chevy Cruze caught cruising in the cold
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Spy photographers have caught what looks like the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze out on snow patrol. The camo could be tricking our eyes, but it look like it has an even tidier, more rounded front end and even lower fenders in relation to the top of the hood. And either a chunk of camo has been wedged between the side mirrors and the doors, or the mirrors are up for revision, too.
The door handles have been moved up the side of the car, leading the way to a rear end that grows a bit in length. If the rumors are true, the coming second-generation Cruze sits on the new D2XX platform that will replace the Delta and Theta platforms at General Motors. A global architecture, the Cruze will be the first to get it, but it will underpin everything from next Chevrolet Volt to the Equinox and could be responsible for 2.5 million units by 2018. The next Cruze is expected to begin production in GM's Lordstown, Ohio plant in the third quarter of 2014.
