Purchased new in El Cajon California along with the protect-o plate and documentation, this pristine El Camino was subsequently purchased by an elderly friend of mine. He has owned the car for 44 years. Clear Arizona title. This Chevrolet has been extremely well kept and maintained by a Chevrolet dealership. The El Camino is one of the cleanest and best available. It's hard to find this type of quality.

The beautiful two stage paint is of excellent quality. Deep shine. No dings nor dents. No rust ever. Solid original floor panels. The panel fit and finish is wonderful. Drives like it did from the dealership. Front suspension and the 350 turbo transmission have been rebuilt. The 350 CID V-8 sounds and runs great...No smoke, nor problems. Nice dual exhaust. This car has power steering (Pump has a slight leak), very good power brakes. Heater works well. Electrical fine. Glass is good. It also comes with factory air conditioning. The compressor works fine, it could use a freon charge. Tires are very good, brakes as well. All lights work like they should. Tires are white wall Michelin's and in very good condition. All dash gauges work fine. There is a Stewart Warner supplement under the dash with the oil, temperature and water pressure gauges. It's done very well. The bed inside is beautiful. Others have been sprayed to hide imperfections. Not this El Camino... As the photo's show it is in great shape! They do sell black aftermarket rubber matting that can be added for protection. It would contrast and look very well. Being a west coast car all its life, the undercarriage has not been detailed. However, it is very clean. It has not been spray bombed to hide anything. Personally, that's just the way I like it. No surprises and original presentation. Interior panels and seats are in very good shape. Newer dash pad top and it has a nice dash cover included for protection. The original working radio comes with the car. A newer one (Works well) with a tape player was installed. It can easily be removed and replaced with the original.

This is a legally binding contract. Bidders with less than 5 proven bids will be cancelled, unless contacting me first. No warranty implied or otherwise, due to the age of vehicle. Pay Pal will be used for non refundable deposit only. Payment, wire or certified funds, must be cleared before vehicles release. International bidders are welcome. Inspections are welcomed. This is an investment grade classic that will please the most discerning collector. Vehicle must be picked up within 30 days after auction end, unless mutually agreed otherwise. The transporters schedule will be respected and will gladly be assisted. Call, 480-734-4545 before 9:00PM MST for inquiries or more photographs. The "Buy It Now" price is very reasonable for this quality El Camino. It will make the new owner a happy one for sure.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.

Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.
