1967 El Camino Chevrolet Project 4-speed Muncie 327 No Reserve No Rust Nice! on 2040-cars

Year:1967 Mileage:999999
Location:

El Paso, Texas, United States

El Paso, Texas, United States

Up for auction today at NO RESERVE is a 1967 Chevrolet El Camino.  It is in great shape with its good and not-so-great (needs attention), but this is a VERY NICE starter and builder car.  It is cool, very solid, zero rust.  One of those cars that I wish I had the time to get to, but I unfortunately cannot tend to her due to recent developments in my financial situation.

Good:

-Turns over, starts, and idles nicely.  You can hear it run.

-Very little body damage*

-Zero major rust (only surface rust)

-GREAT bed (this truck had a camper shell for years before we removed it two days ago).

-Back of the Ekly behind the seats in perfect condition

-327 cubic inch engine (casting verified).  Edelbrock carb and manifold, chrome valve covers, chrome timing chain cover.

-Power steering

-Power brakes

-NICE original dash with nice original steering wheel

-Four-speed Muncie M20

-Window regulators work superbly (almost new—no effort to roll up or down at all).

-Rear glass included (was removed due to the camper shell)

-Rear bed moldings in great shape

-Super-Sport type cowl-hood STEEL with new hinges

-CLEAN title in hand, no liens of any sort

-Electrical in great shape (some rear bulbs burnt)

-Bucker seats (not original) with headrests

-Hurst shifter or Hurst-type shifter

-Gages work (aftermarket)

-10-bolt rear end, good drum brakes all around

-No visible leaks, didn’t spot my trailer when it was on there for the better part of a week.

Needs Attention:

-Windshield cracked

*-Front driver fender is banged up, but very workable

-M20 Muncie transmission is stuck (we believe it requires a linkage adjustment).  It will go into one forward gear but it’s hard to get it to do anything else.

-Needs front and rear bumpers PLUS some grill trim.

-Rear tailgate trim is punctured

-DIRTY but that’s easy fix

-Needs good rims and tires, but these will roll onto a trailer.

This car is located in El Paso, Texas 79938 and it is an age-long New Mexico car.  So, this means this is in great shape.  Previous owner was good to this car; no funny business with title or anything like that.  What you see is what you get.  Also, if you’re serious about fixing her, check my other auctions (there are two transmissions that would work in this car).  Cash in person or via paypal or cashier’s check.  Free shipping within a 25-mile radius, ELSE YOU PAY AND ARRANGE SHIPPING WITH YOUR CARRIER AND YOUR NICKEL for those areas that are located further than 25 miles from our storage locale.  WE HATE to let her go, but recent developments force this sale.

Good luck bidding.  Please, bidders with less than 15 on the feedback page, contact me first via eBay to gage your sincere interest in this vehicle.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
