VIN has been traced back to 1981 (as far back as their database goes) and this appears to be an original Arizona car. After having it up on a lift, no rust was found.
Strong mid-70's crate 350 engine with Turbo 350 auto. Runs smooth and beautiful. Does not smoke, does not leak. No knocks, rattles or pings in the drivetrain. HEI electronic ignition, power steering, power brakes, oil cooler, transmission cooler. Has been converted to front disk brakes. Weiand intake manifold, aluminum radiator. All glass in great shape. Good amped Pioneer sound system (200 watts) with lots of speakers (and brand new Rockford Fosgate subwoofers) mounted behind the seats. Battery relocated to behind cab. Stock dual exhaust. Aftermarket under-dash COLD A/C. Trailer hitch. Brand new stuff: - double roller timing chain - water pump, thermostat and radiator hoses - tinted windows - transmission seals - battery and alternator - plugs wires and caps - valve cover gaskets - tires on Cragar rims - lower ball joints - 4 KYB shocks - tail light lenses - fan shroud - carpet kit - window regulators - speedometer cable Runs great, my daily driver. Not an extreme tire smoker, but pretty quick. Decent interior - needs headliner and sun visors. Clear AZ title. Needs paint, see pictures for paint detail. Actual mileage unknown. GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing
Mon, 29 Jul 2013General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.
GM already raising prices on 2014 Silverado and Sierra pickups
Mon, 14 Oct 2013General Motors must be pretty pleased with sales of its two newest pickups, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, as it's announced price hikes for both models, as part of a planned price tweak.
Prices will be bumped by as much as $1,500, although weirdly, they'll be offset by as much as $1,500 in cash-back offers through the end of October. Fox Business reports that GM spokesman Jim Cain said of the price hike, "With the sell down of the '13 models nearly complete, this price adjustment was planned and is a normal part of business."
The move, as Fox is quick to point out, is an interesting one, as sales of the twin pickups struggled last month relative to the Ford F-Series, while both of GM's crosstown competitors have been aggressively undercutting Silverado and Sierra prices. The F-150 starts at $24,070 and the Ram 1500 comes in at $23,600, not counting any cash on the hood. A base Silverado, meanwhile, retails at $25,575.
