Having owned this car for 10 years and only added 35K to the total I know it stem to stern. EVERYTHING works. Cold A/C. Daytime running lights added. Less than 3K on all brakes with drilled/slotted rotors. Front Cooper Zeon tires are at least 80% good. Just this year I bypassed the PASSKEY and VATS security systems as well as replaced the OPTI, the coil, the control module, and the ignition switch. Has a Meziere electric water pump. Die Hard battery replaced 2/13. ECM rebuilt 2009. Transmission serviced 6/13. True dual cat back exhaust with quad chrome tips. Comes with a replica window sticker, laminated replica build sheet, (original build sheet IS on the tank. Sold by Georgia dealer and has always been here. Has a Power Acoustic PTID 7250Nr, 7" lcd display am/fm, cd, dvd, sd, 200 Watt receiver and a Planet Audio AC 1800.5 5 channel amp1200 Watt @ 2 ohms + 600 watts to sub woofer, sub is a Thump! AT8 800 watt dual channel dual speaker. All ujoints on drive shaft and axles replaced 2012. New front air dam today. Brand new owners manual and kit. Set of Factory Service Manuals. Precut tint ready to install. Everything you see in the pictures comes with the car. The keys are on the roof needing the work I mentioned (Can you tell?) Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?
Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states
Fri, 26 Sep 2014The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.

The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.
