A very rare 1993 40th Anniversary Edition Convertible Corvette This might be the nicest original 40th Anniversary Corvette in the country. This is a 2-owner car with just 18,110 original miles. I purchased the car from the original owner. This car is 99% original; the only items on this car that are not original are the oil filter and battery. The original tires look brand new, as does the ruby red convertible top. This car has never been driven in the winter and has only see rain a few times. The engine compartment is immaculate with no corrosion on any of the components. The car has always been stored in a climate-controlled building. The exterior of the car is perfect! And the ruby red paint looks like the day it drove off the assembly line. The interior of the car is also immaculate with no wear on the seats. The passenger seat has hardly been used. Everything on this car works as it should with the exception of the CD player. The CD will not eject. The car runs and drives beautifully. The car comes with every piece of original documentation including the original window sticker. The car was ordered with every available option in 1993 except for 3: removable hardtop, performance axle ratio and ZRI option. (see picture of original window sticker) Air Conditioning Cruise Control Power Windows Power Steering ASR (Acceleration Slip Regulation) Dual Electric Remote Heated Mirrors Bose Stereo System, including cassette player and CD player Black Luggage Carrier Selective Ride and Handling Power Seats 6 speed manual transmission 40th Anniversary Appearance Package What makes this 1993 corvette so rare is not just that it is a 40th anniversary edition (6,749 produced coupes & convertibles), but that it also has the rare 6-speed manual transmission (5,330 of all 1993 cars produced). As many of you know, the majority of the 40th anniversary edition cars came with an automatic transmission. With a total of 21,590 1993 corvettes produced and only 2,043 40th Anniversary convertibles and add in that only 5,330 total manual 6 speed cars were produced, you can see just how rare this car is. I have set the reserve price at a very realistic, reasonable amount. Please do not bid on the car if you are not a serious buyer. If you have been looking for a very low mileage 40th Anniversary convertible with a 6 speed, than look no further.

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

2013 Chevy COPO Camaro announced with two new engines and manual option

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Chevrolet is following up the 2012 COPO Camaro with another limited run of the drag-strip-ready production car for 2013. Ditching the superchargers, the 2013 COPO Camaro can only be equipped with one of three naturally aspirated V8 engines, and other new features include the option of a manual transmission, new front springs, some minor styling changes and a lower starting price of $86,000. All cars are designed to abide by the rules of the NHRA's Stock Eliminator or Super Stock classifications, depending on in which series buyers wish to enter their Chevrolet Camaro.
Returning for 2013 is the 427-cubic-inch V8 producing 425 horsepower, but the new engines include a 325-hp 350-CID V8 and a 375-hp 396-CID V8. Buyers can select to purchase all three engines, and each will be matched with the sequence number of that car; the track-only COPO cars will not have vehicle identification numbers and can't be registered for street use.
Chevrolet is also offering unique enthusiast-specific options such as a COPO Build Book and the opportunity for owners to help assemble their car's engine at the Chevrolet Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI.

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.
