I have for sale a 1989 Arctic White Convertible Corvette with Hardtop and 1996 body kit. This car has less than 69,000 miles(68,825 as of posting). The tan convertible cloth top is in great condition, just installed last year, and was stowed most of the time, since we loved the look of the hardtop. This car has dual power front bucket seats, the original leather skins,(included in sale), were in great shape, so i removed them and stored them away, and installed leatherette skins, an aftermarket multimedia radio with navigation, DVD, Ipod hook ups, bluetooth etc.(also have factory Bose radio system), aluminum C-5 wheels, Factory CC2 option hardtop with stand, has brand new Accel injectors installed, new Accel braided spark plug wires, Accel cap and rotor, new fuel and air filters, new battery, new alternator, front shocks, drilled and slotted rotors and pads, caliper covers, breathless intake snorkel, H-4 headlights, new carpet, all new weather stripping and window seals(doors, A-pillar, door belts, convertible top),and much more. I have a bunch of extra parts, manuals, CD's etc. and some optional parts available as well. All power options work, including windows, door locks, cruise control, latches, mirrors, etc. A/C works and is cold(converted to 134A). There are a bunch of other things done and replaced I'm sure I've missed, so please call with any questions. The car shows well, runs well and turns heads, but it is by no means a show car, but looks great for it's age. I'm not sure but I believe it becomes a classic next year. Thanks for looking, and good luck.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.
