Nice 1986 low mileage Corvette Coupe.  81876 miles.  The engine is the tuned port, fuel injected L-98.  In 2010, $2000.00 was put into the engine.  A bearing had spun, so the engine was taken out and steamed cleaned the block and the crank was turned down .010 and new rod, main and cam bearing were put in.  New high volume oil pump was also put it in as were new injectors (Ford Borg Warner).  They atomize better with 3 orifices as opposed to the single for the Vette injectors.  New water pump, thermostat, timing chain, serpentine belt, tensioners etc.  Also a new rack and pinion.  I traded valve covers with our 73 Blazer as I thought the orange color gave the under the hood look a little more color and people liked it.  The oil pressure is very high all the time having to do with the high performance oil pump and of course the new bottom end and has a heavy duty radiator and a radiator boost fan in addition to the regular radiator fan.  (fans are designed to turn on at 229 degrees), Corvette want high engine temperatures for best performance.  The new thermostat is 190 degrees. It has an engine oil cooler and the performance handling package and includes the Delco-Bilstein shock absorbers. It has power drivers seat, power locks, power windows, removable plexiglass roof panel (blue tint) which is weather checked (looks like little cracks) from age but still very service able), Electronic air conditioning control and converted to 134 and blows cold. It has cruise control, the stereo system is Delco-Bose and the radio/CD player is after market Sony. The retractable antennae works fine. The transmission is the Turbo Hydra matic 700 R-4 4 speed automatic. The car fast and the engine has a nice powerful sound to it.  The performance handling package (basically heavy duty) gives it a slightly higher stance than the regular Corvette 12821 were give this option. (looks Cool).  We averaged around 14 to 17 MPG in the city and up to 20 to 24 in the country.  It has a new block heater.  We never ran it in the winter as it was stored in a heated building.  There were only 128 Vettes made with the blue metallic color.  The tires have maybe up to 20000 miles of wear left on them.  They are the larger P255/60VR16.  It's a real fun car and handles and runs superbly.  There are a couple of dings and I've included them in the photos.  The major one is around the upper part of the riders side wheel well which shows it in photo #8.  It needs to have a little more professional attention to it and the right turn guide light lens needs to be replaced with an original lens.  Photo#9 shows the rider's side rear where the paint had pealed off slightly. Photo #10 shows chips by driver's door.  Photo #11 shows a scuff on rear driver's side and photo #12 show chips above driver's side wheel well. The interior color is called Graphite.  Photo 20 and 21 show the roof cover off and stored in the rear.  We hate to part with it but my son is in college now and I'm a disabled Vietnam vet and we need the money, so it has to go.  Remember this is a 28 year old car, but I believe one of the finer examples around, most of it's life has been in storage.  The NADA guide values this Vette at $19750 for high retail.  The average retail is $11700 and low retail is $7282.  Value wise we feel this Vette is somewhere between the high and average retail and way, way above low retail in value.  Purchaser will need to put a down Payment of $500 within 24 hours to Paypal. The remainder at pickup or within 7 days by way of cash or certified funds. The sale is for "as is' where is".  The vehicle will need to be picked up within 2 weeks as we are loosing our storage for it.  If payment in full is not made within 7 days then after the 7th day it will be relisted for sale or sold to the next highest offer.  I can deliver the vehicle at a cost of $1.00 per mile, please contact me if you have plans for that so we can make arrangements.  We have this car for sale locally so the Ebay listing may end early. Thanks for looking and if you have any questions please contact me.

Refreshed 2014 Camaro confirmed for New York debut

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

We've already seen leaked specs and potential spy shots, but the refreshed 2014 Chevrolet Camaro will make its official debut at the New York Auto Show in a few weeks.
Besides a tweaked exterior and the possibility of a high-output LS7 under the hood, we really don't know much else about the 2014 Camaro, but here's hoping for an improved interior, too.
In addition to the refreshed Camaro, Chevrolet will also be showing off the recently introduced Chevrolet SS, making its debut on the auto show circuit, and we'll also get our first look at the C7 Corvette coupe and convertible side-by-side.

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky

Fri, 24 Aug 2012

It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
