To start, this is a very rare V54 Option Corvette, only about 2,000 v54's were made and an estimated 150 exist now! The v54 components can be found selling for around $3,000.00 alone! Anyway this car is pristine! It's show quality! Within the last year it had a frame off restoration and a show-car paint job completed at the renown Stingray Shop in Marblehead Ma. This car really moves! With all the work done on it, you tap the pedal and your pushed deep back into your seat! It has 27,000 original documented miles, and clearly has been babied its entire life as seen in the interior.  The interior is totally original, leather is perfect, carpets great (original corvette floor mats) Steering wheel is superb, everything works, and it's loaded! It has power locks, power windows, heat (which is hot), a/c (which is cold), power seats, and even a rear-defroster! It has perfect original glass T-tops, all seals are tight. The "floppy-lights" work perfectly and may be one of my favorite parts of the car! Everything is matching numbers of course, and the parts that have been replaced within the last year are... distributer and cap, alternator, starter, battery, horn, carburetor, and computer (which was custom made as they don't make good ones anymore). I have receipts from the last two years for over $15,000.00 which I would be happy to show any potential buyer. The paint job on this car is pristine, a lot of people say the paint on their car is perfect and then there are scratches and blemishes to be found... but this car had a show-car paint job just completed 3 months ago, you will not find a single imperfection... anywhere! The custom exhaust is adjustable for volume and performance, and Gas isn't even that bad on it, I typically get around 17-20 mpg. I am not happy to let this car go and definitely my favorite car in the world, but I'm moving across the country and won't have the space for it :( Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
