Conv Monza 25k Org Miles on 2040-cars

Up for sale is a 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible Monza . The vehicle has currently 25,559 orginal miles.  It is in great shape and is solid.  I purchased this from a family of a very close friend who had it for a very long time. Due to his age and physical constraints the car was stored in a garage until his passing. I know the history of the car and know for a fact that the mileage is correct and is reflected on the title and paperwork. The vehicle is blue with a white convertible top. The top looks almost new. The interior is in great shape, with the exception that there is a small two inch cut on the drivers back portion of the seat and some wear. The only negative other than that is a crack on the dash board top pad. I currently have a dash cover that looks great on it.

The exterior is in very good shape and there are some small marks in the paint in various areas. There is no major rust or for that matter minor rust areas. The car is in great shape for its age.

Mechanically the car runs very good. The engine is clean and in good operating condition it will need the oil pan gasket and transmission gasket replaced at some point. (The car is 100% drivable as it sits it just leaks a little while parked in the garage)

I bought this car in memory of my friend and the family needed the money. I cleaned it up the best I could and made it run and look the best I could and I feel that it would have made him happy if he could see it in its current condition.

This car would be of interest to anyone who wants a Corvair that is in very good shape, has low mileageI welcome anyone who wants to look it, meet the family I got it from or wants to hear the history.

I am keeping the reserve price low and the car will go to the highest bidder.

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.

PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."
