Up for bidding is this 1964 Corvair Monza with a 180 Turbo Corsa. I’ve personally owned this car for about 12 years now and I do hope whoever wins her, takes great care of her. This car has been in only 2 families in it's 50 year history.

Here is a list of work I’ve had done on the chassis

  • ·   Professionally installed crossed drilled rotors and calipers brakes. Yes it stops amazing!
  • ·      Recoated and sealed gas tank
  • ·      Boyd Coddington alloy rims
  • ·      Clarks Corvair interior including seats and carpet
  • ·      Triple plated chromed all the interior trim
  • ·      $8500 paint job 8 years ago. Yes there is some weathering on the paint but it has ALWAYS been garaged kept and wiped down every time it came out
  • ·      Rebuilt front end suspension
  • ·      No body rust
  • ·      Original CA black and yellow plates
  • ·      Re-located rear antenna

Now the engine and drivetrain has been completely rebuilt by the amazing Greg Peterson. Here is a list of some of the things done but let the pictures speak for itself

  • ·      180 1965 Corsa Engine REBUILT ground up!
  • ·      Fully rebuilt 180 turbo with 150 exhaust outlet to spool up the turbo faster
  • ·      New rods, pistons, and balanced crank
  • ·      Hardened push rods
  • ·      De-flashed the cylinder heads
  • ·      Roller rockers which go for $450 a set
  • ·      Powder coated all tins which are turbo only
  • ·      High-temp ceramic coated exhaust including all turbo parts
  • ·      Triple plated chrome on turbo linkage, including intake, and correct 64 heat shield
  • ·      New Harmonic balancer
  • ·      Chromed alternator replacing the factory generator 64 and prior
  • ·      Offenhauser oil pan and valve covers
  • ·      Rebuilt differential
  • ·      Rebuilt 4 speed trans
  • ·      All new bushing in the A-arms and leaf spring suspension
  • ·      Powder coated complete rear suspension, including A-arms, and leaf spring

That pretty much sums up most of the major things done to it. Don’t forget it’s old. You will have to service it and maintain it, but this IS built to handle, perform, and last. You will not be disappointed on this vehicle. This is the last year of this body which had all the trim and upgrades to the engine and handling!

Chevrolet planning low-cost Corvette under Stingray?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

If you're burnt out on musings about the Chevrolet Corvette, you'll want to go ahead and skip this post. Motor Trend reports General Motors is hard at work on a low-cost version of the seventh-generation sports car for 2015. Rumored to be called the Corvette Coupe, the car will forgo the Stingray and skip the 450-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine in favor of a 5.3-liter V8 with under 400 ponies. If you're keeping track, that's a shade of the same engine found behind the headlights of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.
The report also suggests the Coupe will receive a number of aesthetic tweaks to separate it from the Stingray, including different front and rear fascias as well as new front fenders and a rear diffuser. Motor Trend says the point of all this is to cut the car's price tag, which means we may see a Corvette on showroom floors for less than $50,000 if this car comes to fruition.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
