I've owned this car since 1974, and I think I'm the 2nd owner. It was used as a daily driver for about 15 years. Used buy family as a back-up driver for 15 years, then restored over next few years.

Engine was rebuilt by our area's best GM mechanic/race engine builder. New valve guides and springs, lifters, rings, bearings, bushes and all seals (Viton), gaskets, 1/4 hi/pro Isky cam, electronic ignition and "Clarks Corvair" 2-barral carb set-up. (Estimate about 20,000 miles on motor since rebuild).

When I restored the body I removed all the trim and had the paint removed (media blast). Then had a body shop fix some minor rust and dings, and painted in base coat-clear coat.

All the front and rear suspension was referbished. New bushings, new rear wheel bearings and carriers, 4-new HD springs, shocks. Installed "Clarks" disc brake upgrade and dual master cylinder, 15" Western wheels and BF Goodrich tires. In the last 2 years I upgraded the clutch pack with the Clarks Premium Clutch pack that includes their Billet Fly Wheel. I also installed Rack-and-pinion stearing, a major improvement in handling. I have all the old stearing parts, they go with the
car.

More recently, I've installed new front and rear seat vinyle, a new headliner, 2 new "U" pipes and turbo mufflers, all supplied by Clarks.

Has the factory correct tachometer. This is not a 100 point show car, it is a beautiful driver and show car. Very reliable, and drives great.

I reserve the right to cancel this auction at my discretion.

Let me know if you have a specific question and I'll get back to you.

GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.

Survey says $25k barrier is a problem for EVs

Sun, 01 Dec 2013

The majority of consumers are more or less priced out of the market.
Electric cars are gaining popularity with the general public, but are they still too expensive? According to a survey 1,084 consumers by Navigant Research, a consulting firm located in Boulder, CO, 71 percent want their next car to cost under $25,000, while 41 percent won't go a cent above $20K. Looks like people are even thriftier than we'd originally thought.

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.
