Up for sale is this super cool custom Corvair resto-mod. No expense was spared in taking this rust free Texas car and transforming it into a modern driving, custom classic. No Corvair drives, handles or is comfortable as this one. If you are looking for a classic car that drives and handles like a modern car this is the one you want. Cruise in air-conditioned comfort with a modern a/c system that looks stock and blows ice cold. Engage the cruise control, adjust the telescopic wheel and recline the included custom bucket seats for a super comfortable cruise. Run through the 4 speed with a Clark's short throw shifter, cornering with ease with an upgraded suspension system with the fast steering arm. Easily monitor tire pressure by glancing at the TPMS monitor; all 4 tire pressures read out in digital clarity. Keep a watchful eye on oil temp, pressure and air fuel mixture to the two Rochester carburetors. I have owned 5 Corvairs and this is by far the coolest, best driving and comfortable one I have ever been in. It runs and handles like no other Corvair on the road. Once you drive it you won't believe you are in a 48 year old car. There are no squeaks or rattles, it tracks straight down the road and stops straight. The custom power brakes are incredible and has to be driven to appreciate. Everything works in this car. It can be driven anywhere. I drove it 125 miles in one trip last summer and it was 97 degrees out and the a/c was blowing ice cold!

I've posted a bunch of pictures and I encourage your questions and inspection. You will not be disappointed in the car. It is the best of the best! Please feel free to contact me at 978-930-2530 or send me a message if you have any questions. I will happy to send more pictures, video or anything that you want.

NOTE: This is NOT a show car. It is a very nice #2 driver that has been customized to drive like a modern car. It is a classic car to be driven and enjoyed! Everything in the car works. All gauges and everything functions. It is mechanically sound and needs no mechanical repairs. The only fluid leak is a few drops of oil when parked from the rear main seal. The car presents itself extremely well however there are minor flaws. Some of the things that the new owner could do to make it a show car include: replacing the rubber gasket inside the front trunk lid and possibly the doors. Touching up the chip in the paint inside the driver's door and possibly repainting the underside of the trunk and engine lid.

My guarantee: If you purchase this car and come to pick it up and are not blown away and 100% satisfied your deposit will be refunded no questions asked.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible gives us a couple of looks

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

Put away your pixel paintbrushes, kids. Pack up your Photoshop. This is the real-deal 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible in its first official images. The droptop Chevrolet will roll into the bright lights of the Palexpo exhibition at next week's Geneva Motor Show, a four-wheeled statement of intent that General Motors is serious about taking its Corvette franchise global.
Chevy isn't providing anything in the way of further details with these two shots, but we've learned at least a couple of things about the car shown here. First off, the example seen in these images is fitted with the optional Z51 Performance Package - something that isn't immediately evident because there's no sign of the coupe model's prominent ductwork on its rear haunches. In order to accommodate the power folding hard tonneau cover, the vents that feed the transmission and differential coolers have been relocated to the underside of the car. The dark paint color on this example also does a good job of muting the contrasting black front fender vents and hood opening - Z51-spec design details that have proven to be somewhat controversial.
One other thing to note: These two shots also display the Stingray wearing different alloy wheels than the split five-spoke design shown at the hardtop's Detroit Auto Show unveiling in January. The simpler, thin five-spoke wheels should do a good job of showing off the Z51's upgraded brakes, and they'll be optional on the coupe as well.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Convertible offers a few more views before reveal

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Over the weekend, Chevrolet released its first images of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Now, ahead of the droptop's official introduction tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show, the automaker has given us a few more shots of the softop C7 showing off the car's rump albeit from a high, strategically positioned angle.
From this angle, it's hard to get a sense for how long and flat the decklid really is, but we can easily see that, like the rest of the C7's design, the new convertible's decklid and tonneau cover are far more detailed than the current car. We also get a better look at the rear haunches sans brake vents, which have apparently been moved to underneath the car in order to accommodate the top's hard cover.
As for the overall styling of the C7 convertible, with the top erected, we get some idea of what a coupe design (as opposed to the Stingray's fastback shape) would look like on this car. The C5 Corvette most recently had a coupe model that did away with the large glass hatchback, and we recently reported on a low-cost "coupe" model potentially being added to the C7's repertoire.
