You are bidding on a beautiful and rare 1963 Corvair Spyder convertible. It has the turbo-charged 140 motor with 4 speed transmission that really gets up and goes. Both the engine and turbo have been rebuilt.I have started the car in 20 degree  and 100 degree weather and it always starts right up.I have driven it in stop and go traffic in 98 degree weather and it didn't heat up past normal and ran just as it should. It shifts thru the 4 speeds and reverse with ease just like it should. The paint is very straight and shines very nicely. The seats front and back are in very nice shape with No rips or tears. The door panels are in good shape and so is the dash[NO cracks or splits].The tires are in good shape and wire hubcaps look great. There is NO RUST I could see anywhere on or under the car.The convertible top is in good shape also with no holes any where and fits very tightly, with a clear back window.Mechanically the car is in very very good shape.I have driven it all day from the country to the city in extremely hot weather and it performed great. It drives nice and straight down the road and everything works except the original radio, but the newer under the dash cd player works good[2 screws and the cd comes out and the  car is original again!]The only bad thing I can think of is the is a small dent on the pass. side of the front bumper and some of the stitching is coming loose on part of the pass. door panel. The white looking bar running across under the car on the front end is a neon lite, with 2 other neons that run down the sides that work on a separate switch under the dash. All in all this is a great running rare Corvair Spyder that I would't be afraid to drive across country.Any questions give me 24hrs. to answer emails or call me on my cell after 9:30am PST,1-208-664-0125,Thanks Harry.

Chevy Sonic shreds like a skateboard

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

Despite the fact that the 2013 Chevy Sonic is a fun, plucky little thing - especially in ever-so-slightly hotter RS guise - it is not, in fact, a skateboard. But don't tell that to rapper Theophilus London.
In General Motors' latest spot for the Chevrolet compact, London needs to make a quick run to the store for some milk. And even though, once again, the Sonic is not a skateboard, it ollies, pops and gets air because, you know, it's just so much fun to throw around.
If this video looks familiar to you, it's because this is the full ad that we first got a preview of in Chevy's longer, full-line spot, where the brand's "Find New Roads" tagline was introduced. Scroll down to see this dedicated Sonic spot, along with the older ad, and remember, the Sonic is still - still - not a skateboard.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
