It starts right up and runs great. All the gears work properly with no binding or grinding. The brakes are adjusted and work properly. The heat works as it should and the convertible top goes up and down with no issues. The car is great to continue restoring or just to drive around. The one negative is the chrome. I would rate it around 75% with little pit marks being somewhat common. From 20 feet the car looks clean, when inspected closely the little imperfections can be seen. Personally this did not bother me. photo cover_zps7162c2aa.jpg photo IMG_8462_zps44af5c9a.jpg photo IMG_8465_zpsf58ecaae.jpg photo IMG_8466_zps3c3d9088.jpg photo IMG_8469_zps31b7b447.jpg photo IMG_8472_zps7f46913c.jpg photo IMG_8477_zps6afd68b4.jpg photo IMG_8479_zps16f4ce01.jpg photo IMG_8483_zpsa0504b89.jpg photo IMG_8485_zpsf76dec18.jpg photo IMG_8486_zps53fccf11.jpg photo IMG_8489_zps3a94fd94.jpg photo IMG_8491_zps82777daa.jpg photo IMG_8493_zps0c18cb93.jpg photo IMG_8494_zpsd9067bb2.jpg photo IMG_8499_zpse39493d6.jpg photo IMG_8510_zpsc870238e.jpg photo IMG_8512_zps7aa74056.jpg

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013 13:31:00 EST

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013 16:29:00 EST

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.

Supercharged 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 takes the C7 beyond the ZR1

Mon, 13 Jan 2014 10:30:00 EST

The Z06 is just about everything we got in the last ZR1, but better.
After a bright-yellow false start, here is the real thing: the fourth-generation, 2015 Corvette Z06. If Chevrolet makes a ZR1 version of the C7 Corvette, it's going to be absolutely mega, because the Z06 is just about everything we got in the last ZR1, but better.
