2006 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab Z71 No Accidents strong A/C and only 100K miles

For sale is my 2006 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab Z71 pickup. It has 100090 miles on it and is in great mechanical and cosmetic shape for its age. I am the original owner and the vehicle has never been in an accident, nor has it had any major issue. I keep the oil changed regularly and perform all needed routine maintenance. The front brake pads are about 4 months old, and the rear shoes and drums were just replaced a week ago. The shocks are about 2 years old. There are minor dents and dings consistent with it's age as well as expected wear inside. The only issue I can think of was that the engine light came on about three months ago so I took it to a mechanic. The code was a leak in the evaporative system, and he said it may be the gas cap. We cleaned the cap and reset the code and it has not come back on since. He said it may also need an evap valve, which is a cheap part. He also said this is generally not even a real problem and will not effect the truck negatively. The tires are probably 75% into their life but still have at least 10-15k more miles on them.

I also replaced the original stock stereo with a Pioneer HD radio / USB mp3 player. There is also a small Rockford Fosgate amp under the passenger's seat power two small 10" woofers in a custom box under the back seat. They are not overly deep as they are a shallow design but it adds a nice addition to the door speakers. There is also a soft tonneau cover which I use to cover the bed. It's in the photo, and it's a little dirty as I had it in the garage for a bit. However, the truck is as clean as it can get. I just had it detailed and shampooed inside so it's ready for it's new owner! A/C works great, as does every other function in the car!  All of the lights, windows, door locks, etc are all 100% functional.

I had no plans to sell this truck until a week ago when I decided to buy a Dodge Diesel for more towing power, and I took care of it like I planned to keep it forever. However, my needs have changed so I'm selling it now. Get a great used truck today!

$10,500 obo. I have a clear title and please cash sales only and no trades. Thanks for looking and please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Please ask any questions you have before bidding, I do my best to represent the items I list correctly and don't want anyone, myself included, to have any surprises.

Please be sure to see my other listings. I will be selling a lot of my excess electronics, vacuum tubes, electronic parts, computer parts, music equipment, and much more. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers

Sun, Mar 29 2015

As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Former Fisker CEO has some advice for Tesla Motors

Wed, Oct 22 2014

Former Fisker Automotive CEO and ex-Chevrolet Volt vehicle-line director Tony Posawatz has some words of caution for Tesla Motors. The long-time automaker executive questions the California automaker's long-term viability – and gives some praise – in a talk with Benzinga, which you can listen to below. While the all-wheel-drive D that Tesla unveiled earlier this month in Southern California wowed a packed crowd, Posawatz (starting at around minute 4:45 in the interview) says Tesla would've been better off taking the resources it expended toward that Model S upgrade and directed them towards speeding up the development of a more affordable plug-in. Perhaps a number of investors agreed, since the company's stock fell the day after the D was announced. Posawatz says Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of ZEV credits. Posawatz also says that Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of zero-emissions vehicle credits in California for its earnings and questions whether the automaker will ever work at a large enough scale to sufficiently drive down costs and make consistent profits. Tesla CEO Elon Musk would take issue with this characterization. Posawatz first made his mark in the plug-in vehicle world when he was the vehicle-line director at General Motors for the Volt extended-range plug-in from 2006 to 2012. Later that year, he joined extended-range plug-in maker Fisker Automotive as its CEO, though quit that job during the summer of 2013 as the company was descending into insolvency. He joined the Electrification Coalition this past March. News Source: Benzinga Green Chevrolet Fisker Tesla Electric PHEV Tony Posawatz

2014 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra full configurators truck in

Sat, 15 Jun 2013

You can now put prices to your wildest option-sheet dreams of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. A microsite for the full-size pickup truck twins has been up since January, and now the full-blown configurator is live and ready to take your virtual orders. The only two chassis configurations available at the moment are the Crew Cab with either a short or standard bed - Regular and Double Cab versions will come later. In Silverado flavors that will run you $32,710 for the short box, $33,010 for the standard box, while the Sierra adds a $1,500 premium to both of those prices, and destination and handling for both models adds another $995.
Since these are American pickups the list of modifications is lengthy, but we added $11,450 in just two steps by starting with the Silverado Crew Cab and standard bed, then checking four-wheel drive and the LTZ Z71 package. Our final truck, resplendent in Brownstone Metallic paint, heated and cooled Cocoa/Dune perforated leather seating and tasty details like chrome recovery hooks, and engine block heater and LED cargo box lighting, rang up $57,285 at the candy store.
They'll be on dealer lots sometime this summer, so now's a good time to start practicing your box-checking.
