1979 Chevy Cheyenne Pickup Very Straight Truck Must See! on 2040-cars
Longwood, Florida, United States
1979 Chevy Cheyenne long bed. I purchased this truck a few years ago and did not even really need it. It was just so clean for the year and I love old trucks. I already had a truck but thought about painting it, putting in a low compression big block with a few turbos. I have used the truck to move stuff around and made some repairs along the way. I truly could not chop it up it ran so nice. Its not a fast truck, 350 v-8 and is not perfect. But when I tell you it will never ever leave you stranded, I mean it. I purchased remanufactures rally wheels and center caps for the truck that are in perfect shape ($600 without the tires), put springs and a lowering kit on it ($900). Upgraded the AC, (evaporator, compressor, new lines all new total was around $1200) put a new interior in the truck with a all new carpet, headliner, kick panels, door pockets, and visors ($1300). Changed the oil a few times since I have owned it. Door rubbers are in pretty good shape, a few of the moldings are not perfect, small rust spot on the hood, only spot on the whole truck. There is not a lot bad with this truck. My kids (5 and 9 yr olds) can jump up and down on the hood or roof and the metal does not even flex. They truly do not make vehicles like this anymore, even trucks! You can drive this truck down the road at 70 mph and take it anywhere. We have had a few new vehicles over the past few years and living in Florida the weather obviously gets very hot in the summer, the AC in this truck is better than a new vehicles. Never runs hot on temperature. Rear main seal leaks a little and every few months I will top off the oil. In closing this truck has been in our family for the past five or so years and has been a pleasure to own. No obligation whatsoever to buy if you are high bidder and not as described. I am new to eBay and am listing as no reserve. Last bid will buy it. I am going to let it run the entire length of the auction. Feel free to email me with any further questions. Good luck! |

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
