This is a no reserve auction for my 1974 Chevy Laguna Type S-3. My parents are selling their house so I have nowhere to keep this car anymore, but I hate to sell it. I have had the car since high school as a project and weekend car, and over that time I have done tons and tons of work to it to create my vision of a muscle car. That is, being a streetable car that looks and sounds like a NASCAR car.
I bought the car from guy who owned a used car lot and had this car sitting in the back lot. It barely ran when I got it and was pretty rough, with a little work I got it running and had fun with it for a while until I decided that I wanted to get a little more power from it. I pulled the stock 400ci engine out and rebuilt it using SCAT connecting rods, an Eagle crank, Sealed Power pistons, a high lift cam, Holley Contender high rise intake with matching Carb, Corvette 327 "camel hump" heads, headers and a boom tube NASCAR exhaust. On paper, the car should be putting more than 400hp to the wheels, and it feels like it does.
Along with it, I had a custom turbo 400 trans built for me by Luke's Transmissions which has a semi-auto valve body and is good for more than 800hp.
We also did a custom interior with all new gauges, a racing style metal dashboard, racing buckets and cam lock seat belts.
The biggest attention getter is probably the suspension though. We purchased tubular upper and lower control arms that were directly off of a modern NASCAR Cup car and created custom mounts for them. This allows for a lot more adjustability and of course a better look. The uppers are stainless steel so they look great and are easy to keep clean.
The plan was to eventually put big brakes, posi-trac rear end with taller gears and do a nice paint job on it. Other than that the car is ready to go and is a current driver right now, it is even currently registered.
I have the clear CA title (pink slip) there are no paperwork issues, no back fees, NO salvage title, it's in my name, no problems, it's all good. Shipping is the buyers responsibility.
If you have any questions or want to schedule a time to look at the car, feel free to contact me. 714 8seven8 83one4, my name is Patrick.
Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]
Sun, 03 Feb 2013The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.
Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.
Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
