1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Coupe

VIN# 138176A167083

This Chevelle had a total frame off restoration completed on 10-6-07.  Every nut and bolt was removed.  It has been kept in a heated garage since.

  • The body was blasted to bare metal.  New doors, fenders, quarters, installed.  The body is straight with all gaps and lines perfect.  It was originally red but was repainted to 1967 Corvette Ralley Red single stage.  Wheels are American Racing Torq-thrust II 16x7 in the front 17x8 in the rear.  Potenza RE-01R 205/55/r16 in front 245/45/r17 in the rear.
  • The motor is not original to car I believe it was out of a 68 Chevelle.  396 built by High-Rev Racing out of Granger, Indiana.  Engine is .30 over totally rebuilt with everything new it approximately 500 HP.  750 Holley.
  • Radiator is a "Be Cool" system up to 700 HP.  Keeps the car at 180 and never overheats.
  • Transmission is a TKO-600 5-speed built by Keisler out of Knoxville TN.  Rated for 650HP and 650 FT LBs.
  • Rear end is GM 12 Bolt with all new gears.  Eaton 4 series posi with new axles 4.11 gears.
  • All new glass all the way around.
  • Autometer Gauges
  • Custom Ididit tilt collumn to fit 1966 wheel
  • Disc brakes all the way around, stainless brake lines, global west tubular control arms, lowered 1 inch.
  • Interior restored to original
  • Custom sound system with Eclipse face, speakers, amp, and 2 10's in the trunk very clean application.

The only problems known with the car is the rear main on the motor leaks a bit and I can't figure out how to calibrate the speedo.  Since restoration car has only 1,000 miles.  Car was appraised by Jim Wood Enterprises out of Osceola, IN in 2008 at $75,000.  I have over $100,000 in it.  There is much more that I haven't listed, the box of receipts is huge.  I wanted the car to look era correct from the outside and be just as nice as a new performance sports car on the inside.  May trade for the right late model 160 excavator.

First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.

Corvette Stingray designer lists five goals of new exterior shape

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

Redesigning an icon is a difficult task, especially when you've got a blank sheet of paper in front of you and the all-new C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is intended to be your final objective.
General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Convertible offers a few more views before reveal

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Over the weekend, Chevrolet released its first images of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Now, ahead of the droptop's official introduction tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show, the automaker has given us a few more shots of the softop C7 showing off the car's rump albeit from a high, strategically positioned angle.
From this angle, it's hard to get a sense for how long and flat the decklid really is, but we can easily see that, like the rest of the C7's design, the new convertible's decklid and tonneau cover are far more detailed than the current car. We also get a better look at the rear haunches sans brake vents, which have apparently been moved to underneath the car in order to accommodate the top's hard cover.
As for the overall styling of the C7 convertible, with the top erected, we get some idea of what a coupe design (as opposed to the Stingray's fastback shape) would look like on this car. The C5 Corvette most recently had a coupe model that did away with the large glass hatchback, and we recently reported on a low-cost "coupe" model potentially being added to the C7's repertoire.
