WOW another DAD OF CARS SHOW PIECE what a clean 1966 Chevelle 300 Deluxe. This car is as clean as I have seen in quite some time. This car is one that was chased after for many years. An old gentleman owned the car and was asked to sell it many times and the same answer time after time was NONO NO!! He babied the car and wouldn’t drive it in any bad weather. Well he finally past away and left the car to his grandson, His grandson decided that he would sell it so here you go. The car started its life as a 6 cylinder car Three on the tree and believe me it was a beauty is whole life and was pampered. The car has had a full frame of restoration and was completely stripped and no rust was found anywhere. The body is the straightest one I can say I have ever seen, The paint is really really good and all the trim bumpers grill etc are in show condition. The pictures tell the story. The 6 cylinder was replaced with a 396 big block motor and it is also very clean and sits in a spectacular engine compartment. The transmission is now a Muncie 4 speed with the original look shifter that shifts like butter. A 12 bolt rear end and the underside and the trunk are nice and clean. Take a look at the interior it’s perfect like the rest of the car. The tires are red lines and the dog dish caps are the original ones that were on the car from the factory and they were never reconditioned look at them that should tell you the condition that this car was in before the restoration started. If you’re looking for a jaw dropping 66 300 Deluxe Chevelle come and get this one. My first choice is to sell the car but a might consider a trade but no projects or junk. Please send your pictures to dadofcars@yahoo.com and call 330-353-0959. I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time as the car is for sale locally. I do require a $1,000.00 dollar Nonrefundable deposit at the end of the auction and the balance within 5 days. If you would like to view the car call to set up an appointment you won’t be disappointed. If shipping is needed I can connect you with a man I have used many times. As always the car is sold as is with no warranty what so ever. Please call 330-353-0959 thank you

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
