1965 Chevelle Station Wagon
This vehicle has been a race car since at least 1979 and has entered in many NHRA events as "stocker" throughout the country as shown by the participant decals on the quarter panels.

The current engine is 604 cubic inch DART aftermarket cast iron block with DART Iron Eagle cylinder heads,Jesel Belt Drive,  The intake manifold is also from DART with a 1150 CFM Holley dominator carburetor. Nitrous Oxide is not used on this car. Car runs easy 9.90s.

The transmission is a JW powerglide 2 speed with a 4600 stall torque converter and a trans brake. This transmission was purchased new from JW Performance Transmissions located in Rockledge, Florida.

The rear axle is a Chevrolet 12 Bolt with 4.30 gears and a spool. The axles are aftermarket heat tempered units with C-clip eliminators manufactured by Moser Performance Axles.

The interior still retains the factory dashboard with the AM radio, instrument clusters that still work along with the factory bench seat, headliner, door panels, carpet throughout, roll up windows and window vents that are functional as well. The factory rear seat was removed because of interference with the six point roll cage. This car has been pretty much garage kept. Comes with a lot of extras.

If you need a good trailer w/ live in area this "Trailer is optional"

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
