5.7L/350 fuel injected V8; great donor for a swap!  Complete and unmolested under the hood.

I bought this wagon on eBay about 18 months ago with the intention of swapping the 350 fuel injected engine into a Jaguar XJS as a father/son project with my dad.  He passed away before I got started on it, and I've got no reason to keep the car.

The car was hit hard in the rear at some point.  That's what made it an appealing engine donor, since I assumed it would be mechanically fine.  After buying it I drove it the 100 miles home from near Baltimore, MD, and it ran great...lots of power, pulls great even in a 4,500 pound car.

Mileage unknown.  I think the accident it was in caused some problems with the guages.  The interior is in great shape, so I assume it hasn't seen too much use.

I think this is strictly a parts car; you can see how badly bent the rear of the car is.

I hadn't run the car in 18 months.  I charged the battery and it started right up.  Fresh gas would probably be even better.

The title was signed over to my name.  If the buyer wants, I can get a fresh PA title in my name to sign it over to the buyer.  Since I figure it's going as a parts car I didn't bother getting it titled in my name (also, getting a new PA title on a car from out of state means I have to get an inspection mechanic or police officer to verify the VIN, and I didn't want to deal with the hassle since the car is not currently tagged/inspected).  I guarantee I can get a fresh title if desired by buyer.

Payment and pick-up within 10 days of auction end.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

Veyron and C7 Corvette join cast of Transformers 4

Wed, 29 May 2013

Like the Fast & Furious franchise, the Michael Bay-directed series of Transformers movies has become known as much for its bad acting as its impressive lineup of cars. As filming just started for Transformers 4, Bay's website has confirmed two new cars for the next installment as well as a makeover for everyone's favorite tractor trailer hero, Optimus Prime.
Joining the cast of T4 are a "race-inspired" Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. While Bay's website did not supply names for either car, Bugatti is reporting on its Facebook page that the Veyron will join the Autobots. Speaking of the good guys, top Autobot Optimus Prime is getting an all-new body based on a Western Star with a gaudy appearance that was seemingly inspired by Trick My Truck - right down to the six smoke stacks and side pipes!
