Up for sale is a beautiful example of a very nice 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28.  You would be lucky to find a nicer Camaro at this price point.  This car is a real Z28 (as verified by the trim tag under the hood).  It was also black from the factory with factory carmine red interior.  This car has been restored over the past 5 years.  This included professional rebuild of the engine and transmission.  At the time of the rebuild, the car was outfitted with a Dakota digital dash.  Since then, the car has been driven 1,348 miles (which is what the odometer reads).  I do not know the actual mileage on the body.  I was told by the previous owner that the car was originally from South Carolina.  The body of the car is rust-free.  Another benefit is that this is a HARDTOP car!  No worrying about leaking T-Tops.  The following list details the specifics of the car:

-350 ci V8

-American Racing Touque Thrust 2 Wheels - Front: 15x7, Rear: 15x8
-Tires: BF Goodrich  P215/70R15  and  P255/60R15

Car has been repainted within the past 5 years.  New decals were installed at that time.  The decals look great.  The paint job is very nice, but not perfect.  Overall this car is a 8 or 9 out of ten.  It is a great driver/ car show cruiser.  It is not a perfect car and I am not advertising it that way.  Please feel free to ask me any questions you have about the car.  We are happy to show the car.  I have the clear GA title in my possession.  Below I have attached a VIN decoder for the car:

Vehicle Identification Decoder:

First digit is GM Division: 1 = Chevrolet

  • Second digit is model: Q = Sport Coupe, Rally Sport and Z28, S = Berlinetta
  • Digits 3 & 4 are body type: 87 = 2dr. coupe
  • Fifth digit is engine code: D = 250ci, G = 305ci, L = 350ci
  • Sixth digit is model year: 9 = 1979
  • Seventh digit is N for Norwood assembly, L for Van Nuys.
  • Last six digits increased one with each car built at each plant.
  •

We will arrange payment for the car via phone after the auction.  If car is to be shipped, payment must be secured in advance and buyer is responsible for arranging their own shipping.  Thanks again!

Veyron and C7 Corvette join cast of Transformers 4

    Wed, 29 May 2013

Like the Fast & Furious franchise, the Michael Bay-directed series of Transformers movies has become known as much for its bad acting as its impressive lineup of cars. As filming just started for Transformers 4, Bay's website has confirmed two new cars for the next installment as well as a makeover for everyone's favorite tractor trailer hero, Optimus Prime.
Joining the cast of T4 are a "race-inspired" Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. While Bay's website did not supply names for either car, Bugatti is reporting on its Facebook page that the Veyron will join the Autobots. Speaking of the good guys, top Autobot Optimus Prime is getting an all-new body based on a Western Star with a gaudy appearance that was seemingly inspired by Trick My Truck - right down to the six smoke stacks and side pipes!

Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1

    Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

    Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
