Condition

The camaro was stripped down to its components parts and taken to Metal Finishing Services in Jackson, MS where all body and frame parts were dipped to
remove ALL rust and then e-coated. There is no hidden rust on this vehicle. This service alone costs $4,000.

All body panels are in very good shape except for the shell. The shell needs extensive work to be ready for painting. Mainly replacement sections of
the floor pan, trunk bottom, and around the back glass. The shell has also had replacement rear quarterpanels previously installed. The induction hood has a
small raised 1/4 ” section that will need to be smoothed out. Please note that the shell does not have a trim tag.

The frame was also stripped and e-coated. It is in excellent condition.

The cast steel control arms need recoating but are otherwise in good shape, but the rest of the suspension components will probably need replacing. I do have
the tie rods, and probably the rear leaf springs if desired.

The dash and console pieces are all intact, but I am unsure if they are functioning. This includes AC controls and dash instruments.

The front and rear seats are dusty but upholstered without cuts.

The door innards (cranks and such) are all there, including the door knobs and locks.

The rear axle assembly and driveshaft will need to be sandblasted and recoated.

Additional pictures are available upon request. Keep in mind all body pieces except for the shell are wrapped in adhesive backed bubble wrap which would have
to be destroyed, which I am hesitant to do outside of a serious offer on the vehicle.

You will want to bring a big trailer to pick this up. It's about 3 crates full of stuff plus the frame, shell, and all body panels.

Payment:

Reserve is $4,000 firm. $500 paypal deposit within 48 hours. This is non-refundable.  If the deposit is not placed, I will contact the next buyer in line.  Serious buyers ONLY. It is not my fault if you didn’t read or request additional pictures. The remaining payment is to be made in full at time of pickup.

No trades.

Additional pictures can be found at the link below. They are BIG, about 5 MB per. It's a sampling of the major components in the 3 crates o' stuff.

Here you can see pictures of:

Front grill
windshield wipers
glove box
various hood / door hinges.
headers
seats front and back
front and rear light covers
steering column
Hardware labeled in zip lock bags
Radiator support bracket
brake mounting bracket + brake
Rear axle assembly + housing + drum brakes
Shocks & mounts
Gas tank
Rear leaf springs & mounting brackets
Front control arms upper and lower
Knuckles that went with them.
As you can see they are in various states of condition. If you want more pictures, just send me a message and I'll get more detail for you.

Edit. The rear spoiler was not e-coated as I believe it's made out of some kind of fiberglass?

To re-iterate and answer a few questions I've received from my previous auction ...

The body panels and frame were submerged and e-coated. This is not similar to media blasting. This is much more in-depth and expensive; Simply, it doesn't
get any better. Taken from Metal Finishing Service's website:

Metal Finishing Services uses non-destructive thermal and chemical processes to remove paint or other coatings from metal surfaces. We can handle parts
ranging in size from small fasteners to 10 tons and 20' long. Customers include manufactures, equipment rebuilders, engine overhaul shops, antique car
restorers, contractors and many others.
For manufacures, we strip paint line rejects, racks and hangers
Equipment rebuilders use our services when re-working pumps, housing, electrical panels, and other parts.
We strip entire auto bodies, frames and other parts for antique car restorers.
Engine blocks, heads and miscellaneous parts are cleaned of all paint, grease, oil, and rust for rebuilder.

Rust Removal Services

Metal Finishing Service uses a non-destructive alkaline electro-chemical derusting process. No metal loss or hydrogen embrittlement results, unlike processes
using acids or abrasive cleaning. Parts up to 20' feet long and 10 tons can be handled.
For manufacturers, parts rejected by quality control due to rust are derusted.
For engine overhaul shops and equipment rebuilders rust can be removed from both exposed areas and internal passages such as water jackets and heat
exchangers.
We are able to derust badly rusted sheet metal parts for car restorers without causing further damage. We even do work for museums.
Electrocoating Services
Metal Finishing Services provides electrocoating (E-Coating) on parts as a primer. This is an immersion process where parts are placed in a bath and an
electrical voltage is used to attract the paint to all areas of a part, including inaccessible areas such as the inside of pipes. A black cathodic epoxy coating is
used which is identical to the process used by most auto manufacturers. Prior to E-coating a zinc phosphate coating is applied
E-Coating is compatible with any finish coat, including powder coatings or solvent based paints. It provides superior corrosion protection , especially when
followed by a powder coat topcoat.
Typical applications include auto bodies , frames and misc. parts, outdoor furniture, oilfield equipment , marine applications and any thing requiring superior
corrosion resistance.
E-coating services are provided for manufacturers, auto restorers, equipment rebuilders and others.

Hot Wheels Camaro to make big debut at Indy

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

Chevrolet handed over the keys to 33 Hot Wheels Camaro Convertible Indianapolis 500 festival cars this week. Race directors get the luxury of driving the droptops around Indianapolis in an ongoing tradition with roots all the way back to the 1960s. The stunt is supposed to remind area residents that the Indy 500 is right around the corner. The cars are our first look at the special Camaro Hot Wheels Edition in convertible form, and they are slated to head to dealers after a one-time production run. The cars also represent the first time in history full-size Hot Wheels have been offered for sale by an automaker.
The cars will be available in both the previously seen coupe bodystyle and this convertible configuration, and will feature metallic blue paint and special wheels with the iconic redline accent. Buyers will be able to choose between the V6-powered 2LT trim and the V8-powered 2SS guise.
Hot Wheels says the original Custom Camaro toy was one of the original 16 1:64-scale diecasts, and it remains one of the company's most valuable collector items today.

C7 Corvette makes inaugural ad appearance in Chevy's first spot with new slogan

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" tagline has finally been run into the ground, replaced with the Bowtie brand's "Find New Roads" slogan that's part of parent General Motors' plan to unify its everyday brand's marketing efforts worldwide. The new Chevrolet campaign was ushered in on prime time last night during the Grammy Awards on CBS, and the first spot, a 90-second full-line ad, also marks the first appearance of the 2014 Corvette Stingray in a commercial.
Being a full-line ad, the commercial is composed of vignettes centered on different vehicles in the brand's lineup. The all-new 2014 Impala also makes its first commercial appearance in dapper fashion, and time is spent on a skateboarding Sonic and a bouquet of brightly colored Spark hatchbacks driven by fashionable women. The ad starts and ends with Chevy's green halo car, the Volt, along with a young girl with her robotic dog (yes, really).
Chevrolet's "Runs Deep" campaign got off to a rocky start in the fall of 2010, but it did last for a couple of years with some tweaks. This new one, "Find New Roads" seems more intent on drawing new customers into the fold than the outgoing tagline, which seemed to play more toward the brand faithful. It admittedly reminds us more than a little the short-lived "Find Your Own Road" Saab motto (which, we note, was conceived while the Swedish brand was under GM's control), but no matter, we still think it's got more long-term potential than "Runs Deep."

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
