Very nice 1968 Camaro. Non numbers matching car but built to look like a late 60s early 70s COPO/Yenko 427 car. 427 L88 non numbers matching motor. Turbo 400 transmission. 12 bolt posi rearend with 3.31 gear. Not a restored car but a very nice solid dependable diver. Originally a factory 396 4 speed car with factory power steering and power disc brakes. All solid GM sheet metal. Fresh 427 with less than 200 miles. Std bore block with GM 12.1 pistons. 047 Winters Snow Flake GM aluminum heads with all new valves, guides, springs and seats. 1969 date code L88 intake manifold with new 750 mechanical carb. Crane factory grind 427 430 hp mechanical cam. New solid lifters. GM 427 steel crankshaft. New Hooker big tube headers with 3" flowmaster exhaust. New Carl Rossler turbo 400 with less than 500 miles. New ATI 10" torque converter. Fresh front end rebuild and alignment. Lots of new other parts in interior and chrome. New 4 core radiator and front brake calipers. I still have originals. Still needs a few small things and has it share of small scratches, dents and leaks but a great solid car to drive or restore.  Thanks for looking.

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
