THIS IS A RUST FREE TEXAS TRUCK WITH ORIGINAL PAINT. THE PICTURES SAY EVERYTHING, IT IS LIKE NEW UNDERNEATH. I WAS GOING TO RESTORE THIS TRUCK, BUT I NOW NEED SOME MONEY TO BUILD A NEW GARAGE. IT RUNS GOOD. IT LEAKS A LITTLE OIL, THE HEATER CORE HAS A SMALL LEAK, AND THE RIGHT AXLE SEAL LEAKS A LITTLE. I STILL DROVE IT HOME OVER 50 MILES, AND HAD NO TROUBLE. THIS TRUCK WOULD BE A GREAT TRUCK TO RESTORE, IT NEEDS VERY LITTLE DONE TO THE BODY. I WAS GOING TO PUT IT IN PRIMER, BUT STOPPED. I WANTED ANYONE INTERESTED TO SEE NOW CLEAN IT IS. Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky
Fri, 24 Aug 2012It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
