I am selling this 2001 Silverado Extended Cab pickup from my grandfather. He is the second owner and purchased it used in 2006. The truck mechanically runs great and there are no known issues. It has had regular oil changes every 3-4000 miles and there are no error codes. Cosmetically the truck has some rust issues in the rocker panels on both sides which is common and some bubbles starting around the rear wheel wells. There is also a dent in the rear bumper and rear quarter panel that occurred 3 months ago after he accidentally backed into a concrete light pole stand. It does not affect the driveability of the vehicle. The tires are almost brand new with less than 4000 miles on them. The engine in this truck is the durable 5.3L V8 with 285 hp. The truck has a towing package and chrome alloy rims. The air conditioning blows cold and the brakes were replaced within the last year and half. It also has a newer OEM GM fuel pump that was replaced when the original started to go out in 2010. The truck has a hard tonneau cover which was a $1500 add on along with mud flaps. Kelly blue book has the value between 4200-5800 in fair condition. I am starting the bid at 4000 with no reserve. He is only selling because he updated to a 2008. This was an excellent truck for him and will be for someone else as there is a lot of life left. It is not a trailer queen but rather a good truck for the money and was well taken care of.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile
Mon, 18 Nov 2013The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.
2014 Chevy Silverado High Country spied wearing trappings of new luxury trim
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Spy photographers have spotted the new Chevrolet Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali out on public streets for a little testing. From the looks of things, the Silverado will receive a much-differentiated front fascia along with special badges and those honking 20-inch chrome wheels. Expect to find a more posh interior as well. Likewise, the Sierra Denali will wear a tweaked nose with the familiar Denali bling. The one of the GMC trucks spotted here rolls on 21-inch gunmetal wheels instead of the 20-inch chrome pieces of the High Country.
Word has it both trucks will go on sale after the Texas State Fair this summer. While General Motors hasn't said for certain what we can expect to find under the hood, we'd be surprised to see anything outside of the range of engines found in the standard Silverado and Sierra models. That means buyers should be able to get their hands on the efficient, 23-miles per gallon 5.3-liter V8.
