Up for sale is a Very Rare 1997 Chevrolet Silverado Centurion edition package with the 5.7L 350 Vortec Engine with an automatic 4L60E transmission. It has a 10 Bolt Rear Axle with the GT4 G80 3.73 ratio. The truck has right around 148,000 miles on it. It is a crew cab short bed truck which wasn't available from the factory, only as a conversion from Centurion. They didn't make many of these and finding one this clean is almost impossible. The truck spent most of its life in Florida which is why it is so clean and 100% Rust Free! It is a 4x4 truck with the Z71 Off-Road Package. The truck is in overall very good condition. It starts right up and drives smooth and straight. No issues mechanically. The interior I will call a 7 out of 10 as the top of the dashboard has cracks due to the Florida Sun. There will be a dashboard cover put on the dash before the truck is sold, which doesn't look bad. The seat has a very small tear/hole on the drivers side and there are a few stains on the carpet. The exterior of the truck I will call a 9 out of 10. There are some small blemishes around the truck and a couple of small dings. No major dents or rust ANYWHERE. The underside of the truck is probably the cleanest I've ever seen in my area. It looks like it was never driven in type of inclement weather. The truck has power windows, locks, and mirrors, as well as cruise control, push button 4x4, aftermarket CD player, day-time running lights, cargo light, and power lumbar seats. I will give some history on these trucks, if you are not familiar, GM did not make a crew cab Silverado 1500 (1/2 ton, 6 lug) in the 90's. (They only made the 1500 in regular cab or extended cab, or crew cabs in 2500, or 3500, 8-lug.) Centurion took a regular cab short bed, straight off the GM assembly line, stretched the frame, and bought all genuine GM parts, (cab and interior parts) and made these crew cab short beds. They then sent them to the GM dealers to sell as new trucks. This conversion costs $18,000, plus the MSRP of the original truck was around $21,000. These trucks were not cheap. These trucks are very rare, rumor is they only made about 100 of them per year, (from 1996-1998). Just a quick note, because of the conversion, the VIN and registration shows as a regular cab 2 door truck. If anyone is interested in getting this truck shipped to them I will gladly assist with any shipping company on pick-up, as long as you set everything up. I will also offer to tow the truck free to the buyer as long as they are in a 50 mile radius if the reserve price is met. If you have any questions about the truck, would like more information, or pictures of a specific part of the truck please feel free to contact me. Thanks and Good Luck! photo DSC_0121_zps7cd2d59d.jpg photo DSC_0122_zpsc563a3c8.jpg photo DSC_0123_zpsd2411013.jpg photo DSC_0124_zps80db1132.jpg photo DSC_0125_zps6f0fbfad.jpg photo DSC_0126_zps89bfc9b9.jpg photo DSC_0127_zps77649e94.jpg photo DSC_0128_zps2bb29d41.jpg photo DSC_0129_zps794eca12.jpg photo DSC_0130_zps19c5dd71.jpg photo DSC_0131_zpsa14b5098.jpg photo DSC_0132_zpse3b992ac.jpg photo DSC_0133_zps6f85e3c0.jpg photo DSC_0134_zpsbd366899.jpg photo DSC_0135_zpsdace4651.jpg photo DSC_0136_zps35b91619.jpg photo DSC_0137_zpse9143dee.jpg photo DSC_0138_zps20b0d34c.jpg photo DSC_0139_zps79a8f837.jpg photo DSC_0140_zps93bbd02c.jpg photo DSC_0141_zps657be946.jpg photo DSC_0142_zpsb1023cc6.jpg photo DSC_0143_zps5d90ee78.jpg photo DSC_0144_zpsb0ad40cc.jpg photo DSC_0145_zps3bebc180.jpg photo DSC_0146_zpsdf89c5f6.jpg photo DSC_0147_zps3e13fec2.jpg photo DSC_0148_zps9d379068.jpg photo DSC_0149_zpsecb12e52.jpg photo DSC_0150_zps38679367.jpg photo DSC_0151_zps44a6e821.jpg photo DSC_0153_zpscd744adc.jpg photo DSC_0154_zpscd59baba.jpg photo DSC_0155_zpsaf989a66.jpg photo DSC_0156_zps3d0aeb94.jpg photo DSC_0157_zpse20199c2.jpg photo DSC_0158_zps213c618d.jpg photo DSC_0160_zps922d24a1.jpg photo DSC_0161_zps72d42a54.jpg photo DSC_0164_zps37176866.jpg photo DSC_0165_zpsa68c38a9.jpg photo DSC_0166_zps8fee4440.jpg photo DSC_0167_zpsc0839098.jpg photo DSC_0168_zpsea4b7560.jpg photo DSC_0169_zps484fc72d.jpg photo DSC_0170_zpsdd2561ee.jpg photo DSC_0171_zps8bd094d9.jpg photo DSC_0172_zpse9fdc7b8.jpg photo DSC_0173_zps10a4e57b.jpg photo DSC_0174_zps0caa14ff.jpg photo DSC_0175_zps166e1db1.jpg

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
