Up for auction is what I consider one of the hardest to find in nice condition of all the 67-72 Chev. and GMC trucks.  A low-mileage almost completely original 3/4 ton K-20 4X4.

This was a one owner truck that spent it's entire life in Idaho with a full size camper on the back of it, used for hunting and fishing and occasionally lived in at various construction sites, as the owner was a construction worker.

I bought the truck from his grandson who received the truck from his estate.  He could remember many hunting and fishing trips in the truck and said it was his grandpa's pride and joy, and the condition reflex's it.

Now to the trucks condition, it is a very straight, honest, mostly original truck.  He at some point did an upper end job in the motor to install hardened valve seats, and while at it installed headers, dual exhaust and a Mallory unilite pointless ignition.  The truck runs excellent and also seems to have a mild shift kit.

The paint appears to be mostly original but I am sure it has been touched up in some areas, but not due to any rust issues, as this truck is amazingly solid.  It still has the "original" wood bed in it that is in excellent condition.  I had it taped off and rhino lined to protect it, and if you look at the pictures you can see he had installed on the roof what I take to be a CB antenna.

Now to the things I messed with.  I put a new chrome bezel on the gauge cluster, and also took an extra glove box door and ash tray cover and had them chromed and painted original color on the inside with only the outside edge left chrome. (something I do with all these trucks)  I installed a new chrome front and rear bumper so they would match as I didn't like the "fit everything" step bumper on the back.  Also new wheels with some good tires I had around, they have about 50% tread.  I also installed a new seat cover.  The rubber mat and dash pad seat cover.  The rubber mat and dash pad are original, as are the door panels.  I replaced the black lower trim with some very nice used wood grain I had stuck away.

The truck came with the really nice bed rail protectors on it, which I have never seen before.  I added the tool box and splash guards to continue the theme.  I also added a 3-spoke wheel, but the original will be put back in.  It is nice with only 1 crack.  The under carriage is so clean and rust free you can clean it with a steel wool pad.

Well that's about all I can think of, but if there's anything else you want to know you can email or call me at 507-456-2957.  People know I have this truck, so it could be gone at most anytime.

Give it a good look and some serious consideration, this is a nice truck!

Good Luck Bidding

P.S. Two of the upper grille mounting brackets are broken.  A new grille is included with the truck.

Race Recap: 2013 Indianapolis 500 better than Bollywood; all the emotion, none of the music [spoilers]

Mon, 27 May 2013

If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
But this year's race delivered more than anyone expected, from the 250,000 fans to the commentators to the IndyCar series itself and, finally, to the guy who hopped through a two-mile window on Lap 197 to take the lead and keep it until the end.

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting? Vote in our poll below, then feel free to leave a few lines in Comments.

Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.
