Welcome to the auction for my 1985 C-10 truck.

This truck has been owned by myself and my wife since late 2009. I have only recently registered it in my name as I couldn't do so before I got my US residency. I am originally from the UK.

The truck has spent all it's life in the South and this shows in the condition of the bodywork. The cab corners have zero corrosion and the same can be said for the outer rockers. I recently had the chassis "jet washed" and inspected and found some corrosion in the inner rockers on both sides. The chassis is still in remarkable condition for it's age. The only other corrosion on the truck is found under the battery tray, where a previous battery has no doubt leaked. The right hand inner fender needs to be replaced and repair work done to the right hand outer fender. (See photograph). Yes, there is surface rust and a few dents here and there, but overall the unmolested body has so much potential. This is the reason I bought the truck in the first place. It was always my intention to restore it fully.

It has the 350 cu inch V-8 engine with a 3 speed automatic transmission. It shows 11,000+ miles but I think it has rolled around more than once. The engine is tight and comes with an edelbrock carb and headers and does not burn oil. I believe the motor has been rebuilt at some time, but I have no proof. I have spent quite a lot of money on both the engine and transmission. A new distributor was fitted along with the associated cap, rotor and coil back in January 2010 at a cost of almost $700:00. I have the receipt. It has had regular oil changes since in my ownership at American Lube Fast and I have all the receipts to evidence this. The last one was done in April of this year.

Both myself and my wife went to live in England in December of 2010 and stayed for 14 months. I / we drove the truck to a property belonging to friends in Bartow, WV where it was stored indoors throughout our time away. When we got back, I bought a new battery on the 14th April 2012 (I have receipt) and once installed, the truck started straight away. I then had it checked out by a local garage with a tire rotation and an oil change carried out, (I have receipt) before we set off back to Florida, via Baltimore. It performed faultlessly, and towed a u-haul trailer with no problems.

I replaced the tilt steering column in the spring of this year. I found a supplier of rebuilt units on e-Bay and duly purchased one for about $400:00. Unfortunately, I can't find that receipt. While I was in there I changed out all the dashboard bulbs for halogen units. You can actually read the dashboard display now, at night.

The last "big" job that was done was the transmission seal kit in October 2012. I had them replaced at a local garage and have the receipt for a bill of over $650:00. An engine mount was replaced at the same time.

Other jobs I have done include the purchase of a new Firestone tire when the wife got a puncture back in May 2010 and  a replacement power steering reservoir and hoses. I have also changed out door seals, window seals, a window motor and both door hinge pins over time with parts from LMC. Receipts show over $350:00 spent. Both front tires will need replacing within the next 3000 miles. The rear tires have more than 60% left on them.

I never intended to sell this truck, as can be seen by costs to date. Circumstances dictate that I now need to raise some cash pretty quickly and this is the only reason I am selling. Someone is going to get a good, solid restoration basis, which drives well and will go anywhere, in my opinion.

Negative points are that the emergency brake is not connected and a brand new kick down cable fitted when the transmission bearing seal kit was done, needs the correct edelbrock carb bracket to connect. I have never bothered. The factory fitted A/C has a replacement compressor and drier installed, but I never installed a drive belt as I use the windows for ventilation. I have never checked the A/C out. The passenger window motor is slow and needs to be helped on its way back up. I replaced the drivers side with a motor from LMC. There are a couple of drips underneath when it is standing. I am in the Merchant Marine and the truck sits for over 4 weeks while I am away. It also rattles and creaks, but does hold a straight line with no steering wobble throughout the speed range. The alignment is very good.

Oh, while I think on, the tailgate was replaced with a used part before I got the truck and I think it is because someone shot it out!  There is a bullet hole right through the cab behind the driver at butt level!  I have included a photo. The general opinion of friends suggest a "kill shot" from Law Enforcement to stop the driver for whatever reason. That would also tie in with the bench seat fitted, which I believe is a replacement and not a Chevrolet part. Yes, there is a good chance someone was killed in this truck, but I get no bad vibes from it. I have spent at least a couple of night's sleeping in the cab when the wife has got pissed with me and did so comfortably. (Truck wise, not wife)!!

The title is clear. It is not in hand as I list the truck because in Florida the DMV hold a title "electronically". I will be approaching the DMV to get a hard copy as the listing progresses. There are no problems and it will be available by auction end.

I am setting the reserve at $2000:00. The truck will be sold with no warranty offered or implied. A non-returnable deposit of $500:00 is required to be paid by PayPal within 24 hours of auction end. The truck is not offered for sale anywhere else and will be sold through e-Bay.

Good luck bidding. Any further questions, please send me an e-mail.

Thank you.

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.

This is your 2014 Chevrolet SS

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

Think you've waited long enough for this? If so, then you'll want to savor the high-res photos we've so far been given of the 2014 Chevrolet SS, the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from The Bowtie in 17 years.
We all know its our version of the brand new VF-model Holden Commodore, but what's under the hood that earns the appellation "performance?" A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine producing 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. That's 35 hp and lb-ft less than the same engine is expected to produce in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. Chevrolet says the sedan will get from 0-to-60 miles per hour "in about five seconds."
Shifting comes courtesy of a six-speed automatic with paddles on the steering wheel, while stopping arrive via four-piston Brembo calipers up front, a single sliding piston in back. The forged aluminum wheels are 19-inchers all around, each set supporting right around 50 percent of the sedan's weight, and the aluminum hood and trunk are meant to keep the center of gravity low.
