Up for auction is a 1951 Chevy C10 Rat Rod. This truck runs and drives. It has a stock 454 BBC from a 1993 Chevy truck. It has aluminum Victor Jr. aluminum intake with Demon carb. Power Brakes with booster. Turbo 350 transmission. 9 inch ford rear-end with 3:42 gear and leaf springs. Camaro sub-frame boxed to stock frame. Could have power steering if add a pump. 15 gallon fuel cell with Holley Blue pump. Bucket seats from a Camaro. Lexan windows all the way around with driver and passenger functioning roll up and down. Feel free to ask questions. Currently has clear Indiana title.
On Jan-13-14 at 11:43:43 PST, seller added the following information: To answer some questions: this truck is a rat rod. It is titled a 1951 cab with an older style front. Again this is a rat rod not an original truck. If your looking for an all original truck, this is not for you. On Jan-13-14 at 17:42:19 PST, seller added the following information: There has been a lot of emails questioning the year on this truck. The vin plate shows the vin number to be 8JPA4458 and matches the title I have for the truck. I did not built this truck personally so the cab, fenders, frame, all could be from an earlier year truck, all I can tell you is what I was told. I was supposedly built from a 1947 and a 1951. All I can tell you is what I know about it and the title says 1951. But again this is not an original style truck. Its a rat rod. From what I know about rat rods, anything goes. |

GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs
Thu, 03 Jan 2013General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum.
