Very Original 1 Family Owned '59 2-door Belair Flat Fins Low Reserve on 2040-cars
Year:1959
Mileage:61299
Location:
Jonesville, Michigan, United States
Before I
begin, I would encourage all serious buyers to contact me directly at 1-517-990-2646
with any questions or concerns. This
auction is for a 1959 Chevrolet Belair 2-door 1 family owned since new. I apologize
in advance for the long winded story but this car deserves it. 1959 is said by
some to be the best year, for
the second time in as many years, Chevrolet again came up with a totally new
car. From the front or rear the 1959 Chevrolets resembled nothing else on the
road. From the headlights, placed as low as the law would allow, to the
cats-eye tail lights, the 1959 Chevrolet was a brand new car with all new sheet
metal, a new frame, and even new series names. The most visual new change was
the flat, wing shaped tailfins. The
'59 Chevy was the last car that Harley Earl designed for GM before retiring,
and his flamboyant style was very evident. It’s
in great condition throughout! All the
mechanics work properly, looks great and is fun to drive!
This very rare 59 Belair is in nice original condition everywhere you
look with only 1 re-paint to the original color. This car is a one family owned
car I bought it from the niece of the original owner we have a folder full of documentation
of ownership including the original title in his name. ‘59 model year and is a
very rare to find one for sale, let alone one that is in the original condition
this one is, this car may be the one you can own at a great price. This car is
a rare find with being one family owned since new with docs and the fact that
it is all original with only one repaint and a new headliner. The miles on the
odometer show 61,299 and are original to the car. The engine bay is original,
when the car was passed down in 2005 the motor was completely rebuilt we have
the receipts also, the paint was also done at that time, still looks nice but
not perfect, they added power steering for ease of driving there were older at
this time also, every piece of chrome and stainless is very nice with the exception
of the bumpers they had them painted with a special chrome paint and they said
it looked good at the time but after almost 10 years they need to be re-chromed.
Turn over the 283 V-8 engine and quite rumble from the exhausts hits a sweet
tune. Driving it, you will appreciate the ride and handling characteristics.
The optional 2-speed auto transmission shifts smoothly, the power brakes stop
the car quickly and securely. It’s is a blast to drive!
The body is in nice condition. The metal is clean and straight with no
signs of damage. We have pictures of the car in 2005 before any work was done;
it still was all original everywhere but the tires. All the glass is in great
shape with no chips or cracks. The original bias-ply spare tire and all the jack assembly is all there,
the original paint under the deck lid and original jack instructions are still
there with the original trunk mat. The underside is
very solid the original owner had the car rust proofed new and then had it done
a couple more times over the years just to make sure the car would last.
Overall this is a rare
opportunity to own a true piece of American history of the automobile industry,
how many 59 Belair’s do you see at your local or national events across the
country? I welcome overseas buyers please feel free to call me at 517-990-2646.

Spy photographers have caught what looks like the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze out on snow patrol. The camo could be tricking our eyes, but it look like it has an even tidier, more rounded front end and even lower fenders in relation to the top of the hood. And either a chunk of camo has been wedged between the side mirrors and the doors, or the mirrors are up for revision, too.
The door handles have been moved up the side of the car, leading the way to a rear end that grows a bit in length. If the rumors are true, the coming second-generation Cruze sits on the new D2XX platform that will replace the Delta and Theta platforms at General Motors. A global architecture, the Cruze will be the first to get it, but it will underpin everything from next Chevrolet Volt to the Equinox and could be responsible for 2.5 million units by 2018. The next Cruze is expected to begin production in GM's Lordstown, Ohio plant in the third quarter of 2014.

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
