I hate to sell this bad ass ride but I have other plans so here goes.

I built this car myself over about two years. There are about 1,000 to 1,200 hours of labor involved in the build. At an average shop rate of about $45/hr you can see what it would cost to duplicate it. My reserve is thousands $$ less than the labor alone would be. I am an ASE Certified Master Collision Tech and Certified ICAR Gold with 30+ years of experience. I mention this so you know that this car was built right.

This car is clean and rust free top to bottom. I started with the frame adding 8" C notches is back with a 8.8 Ford rear axle. 373 gears, locker, Comp Engineering 3 link, S/W coil overs and disc brakes. In front I cut the old frame at the firewall and swapped in a 1981 Camaro sub frame. I narrowed it 4" and welded it in 5" higher than the original so it has a drop built in. You can ride low and still have plenty of suspension travel. I opened up the front spring pockets from 6" to 8" diameter to accept Slam Specialties 7" air bags. Air ride uses a Viair 450 pump and 7 gallon tank mounted in the trunk below the package shelf.  Every single suspension, brake, and steering component is new. Every bearing and bushing including body mounts is new. Every piece of the whole brake system is new. Rotors, bearings, calipers, seals, pads flex lines, steel lines, master, booster, proportioning valve, all new parts. OEM or American made parts. No Chinese garbage on this car.

I used a new 20 gallon plastic gas tank with a new sending unit and Welbro electric fuel pump with a Corvette filter/regulator and hard lines with AN fittings. The wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust "M". 20's in front and 22's in back. Exhaust is maze can mufflers forward with glass 12" packs in back. It produces a throaty exhaust note without being too loud. Floors and braces are clean and rust free. Rear wheel tubs are up as high as the package shelf. Front is also tubbed.

The body is clean and straight. The previous owner put new quarter panels on before I bought it. Doors and deck lid are clean OEM. Both fenders are OEM but the left fender has a new heel welded in. It was done right so I used it. The hood is the original 57 frame. I cut the skin off and welded on a 58 Chevy skin. Smooth and cleaner looking. The roof is chopped 1 1/2" and swapped with a 59 Chevy 2 door sedan roof. The windshield is a new 57 windshield cut down to fit the chop. Rear window is stock 59 Chevy. Side glass is new and vent windows were eliminated. Stainless body trim is OEM straightened and polished. A couple of dings on the trim that I missed but nothing ugly.Door handles and locks are new.

The engine and trans are from a 2002 Camaro. They had 30,000 miles when the donor car was hit in back. It is an LS 1 with 4L60E 4 speed automatic. I changed fluidsand filters, O2 sensors, and spark plugs. Cleaned the injectors and fired it up. It runs great. Never overheats. New custom made, balanced,  drive shaft. There's a new aluminum 4 core radiator and new A/C condensor. All A/C lines and fittings are new. The A/C unit is a Old Air self contained unit designed specifically for the 57 Chevy that uses the original heater control switch.

The interior is all finished out. All the reveal mouldings have been cut down and welded up to fit the chopped pillars. New custom headliner. Seats are from a 2006 Monte Carlo. Rear seat was narrowed a few inches to clear the tubs. Console is from a Fusion. New carpet. New custom door panels. Dash and door panel aluminum inserts are coarse ground and buck riveted for a mean utility or industrial look. Gas gage and temp gage work. They are OEM with new lenses. Speedo is a new Stewart Warner 160MPH electronic programmable. Every wire in this car is new. I used a Painless 21 circuit harness/fuse box. The engine harness is original to the engine and modified to run stand alone.

This car gets a lot of attention where ever I go. One guy said "That car looks so evil !! It looks like someone's going to jump out of it and kick my ass!"

There is NO BILLET and no additional chrome on this car. It is NOT a billet buggy or trailer queen. If that's what you're looking for, you are in the wrong place. I built this car to be driven and that's what I do with it as often as I can. The paint is an industrial UV resistant primer made by PPG. I don't polish or wax cars any more. The bottom is red Rustoleum primer. The frame is all black paint. I don't polish undercarriages either. To answer before asked: Yes, it could be painted but why would you? Aren't there enough hideous circus wagon paint jobs out there already?

Now a couple negatives: Last summer I developed a refrigerant leak somewhere in the A/C system. Everything is new so it can only be an O ring or a crimp. I am going to try to find it this weekend and fix and recharge the system before the auction ends. Second, the driver side door glass cracked for some reason yet undetermined. I will replace that and try to figure out why it cracked in the first place and resolve that problem.

This car was built to be driven not trailered around from show to show. It is a very clean, fresh build. (Finished in 2011) It's not perfect and was never intended to be. It is simply bad ass.

If you have any questions, just ask . PayPal $500 deposit within 48 hours. Do not bid if you do not have the money in hand by the end of the auction. Less than 10 feedback contact me before bidding. Thanks.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.

GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC

Sun, 06 Oct 2013

American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
