To paraphrase, the list of Tri-Fives out there that are as impeccably thought out, professionally restored and built, show-ready, and extremely driveable is a VERY SHORT list. I believe it would cost well over twice my reserve price to build this beauty, maybe more! I Will Not reveal my Reserve Price, so Please don't ask. And of course, the car is for sale locally, and reasonable offers will be considered, so I reserve the right to cancel this Ad at any time.
Before I go any further, allow me to make these following appeals and requirements known, and Thank You for reading and agreeing to same: If you're not absolutely serious about purchasing a car of this caliber, PLEASE DO NOT PLACE A BID. If you do not have the funds in readily available to follow through this purchase, PLEASE DO NOT hit the "Bid Now" button. I absolutely invite any potential bidder to come take a good look at this car before placing a bid. This car is located in Prescott, Arizona, about 1/2 way between Phoenix and Flagstaff (2 hours to each by car).
I will not accept any personal checks, cashier's checks, or money orders. A deposit of $500.00, via PayPal or cash will be due within 72 hours of purchase (close of auction). The full purchase price will be due within seven (7) days of purchase (close of auction). A Bank Wire deposit of funds is the preferred method of payment. If you bring that much cash, we will go to a local bank to very it's authenticity. Most of the large banks (B of A, BMO Harris, Chase, U.S. Bank, Washington Federal, and Wells Fargo) have local branches, as well as a number of other smaller and State Banks. If you bank at one of the banks represented locally, we can both go to that bank and arrange a Bank Wire deposit. We bank at one of the major banks.  If we happen to bank at the same bank (we can discuss this), that makes it even easier as the funds can be immediately withdrawn from your account, and deposited in our account. Again, Thank You. Unfortunately we don't know who we can trust anymore, and simply cannot be too cautious.
Believe me, you WILL NOT be disappointed. She's as fabulous one foot away as she looks in these pictures. I fell in love with this car the moment I saw it for sale. If this '57 sounds like what you are looking for, you like the subtle color schemes, I'm sure you will love the car as well.
This beautiful '57 210 started life in the G.M. assembly plant in Oakland, CA., and 805 miles ago was completely disassembled (Frame Off- every last nut and bolt!), and professionally restored and rebuilt into the masterpiece that you see here. Every single item on this car was new, rebuilt, or completely stripped and refinished.  NOTE: The speedo currently shows 805 miles, and I was told when I purchased the car that the speedo started at zero at the time of the restoration.
The body was done on a rotisserie, professionally restored and painted in a glass-smooth, tutone paint scheme of Larkspur Blue & India White.  I'm fairly certain Larkspur is correct.  My research found that "Robin's Egg Blue" might be confused with Larkspur.  Larkspur was the correct name in 1957, and this car looks like the original color.  As seen in the pix, it is blue in the outdoor sunshine, and in my white-walled shop, under flourescent lights, appears slightly greenish). It is laser-straight, with no dings, dents, ripples or waves whatsoever. The matching underside is is as shiny and smooth as the car itself. The chassis was completely stripped and powder coated in semi-gloss black. All chrome and polished stainless trim pieces, as well as bumpers appear as new.
The soft leather interior is finished in a beautiful tri-tone scheme of off-white, very light gray, and dove gray, with charcoal carpeting.
New wiring and a Dakota Digital VHX-57C guage/speedo system were installed.
Air temperature is provide via Vintage AC/heat system. There is no music system installed (who wants to hear anything but the deep-throated roar of the engine!).
A brand new G.M. Performance Parts Crate ZZ3 engine was installed (engine # V0520ZZ3). The specs as advertised are as follows: 350 cu. in. (5.7 liter); 345 HP @ 5200 rpm; 387 ft. lbs. torque @ 3250 rpm; aluminum heads; 9.8/1 compression ratio; hydraulic roller tappet cam (intake valve lift =.474", and exhaust valve lift = .510"); 1053 forged steel "pink" rods; forged steel crank; 4-bolt main bearings; hypereutectic aluminum pistons. Polished aluminum valve covers, Edelbrock 1406 carburetor, chrom AC compressor and alternator as well as many polished or chrome engine accessories.
The power is hooked up via a smooth-shifting Keisler Tremec 5 speed manual trasmission, and 9" Ford rearend. An aluminized 3" exhaust system features 18" Flowmasters and ceramic coated headers.
Steering is handled Flaming River Rack & Pinion power steering, with the small p.s. pump, and a poslished external fluid reservoir.  It has a Flaming River chrome, tilt steering column. 4-wheel power disc brakes with slotted and cross drilled rotors provide the stopping power, with anti-swaybars front and rear.
Polished 17" American Racing Hopster wheels front and rear are wrapped in Nitto NT 450 tires, 225/50R 17 in the front, and 255/50R17's in the rear.
This fabulous '57 is sold As-Is, Where-Is, with No warranty, expressed or implied. The buyer will be responsible for transporting the car after sale is completed. Of course, I will assist in loading the car for transport, if help is requested.

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.

GM recalling 250,000 SUVs over door electronics

Mon, 20 Aug 2012

After a door-fire investigation that dates back to February, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced a recall today that affects around 250,000 General Motors SUVs for a faulty driver's door module. The recall applies to the Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X from the 2006 and 2007 model years, as well as the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL for vehicles sold and/or registered in the Snow Belt.
Road salt use in these midwestern and northern states can lead to corrosion of the driver's door module on these GMT360 and GMT370 vehicles, which allows water to come in contact with the circuit board. If shorted out, the vehicle's power door locks and power windows will not work, and could possibly lead to overheating and, in some circumstances, a fire. No official word on how many total vehicles caught on fire, but back in June, 28 fires had been reported to the government agency. A fix for the problem is still being worked out, but all affected vehicle owners will be notified by GM.

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
