Definitely one of the best 1957 Chevrolet 2 DR Wagons on this planet. A rare, pristine, original Arizona native. Always within a climate controlled environment. Laser straight! No rust issues what so ever. All original in appearance, with a rebuilt 350 CID V-8, attached to an automatic 350 Turbo for dependable driving and confidence. Brand new Ciadella original interior. The seats and headliner, along with new door panels are in excellent condition. All gauges work like they should. New speedometer. The undercarriage and frame are in incredible condition, as noticed in the photo's. No black spray cans used to hide and take away from this super solid wagon. You are viewing exactly what you are getting. This car was taken completely off the frame, (Frame off restoration) the frame was epoxy primered and subsequently painted. Originally the tri-five Chevrolets left the showroom with primered under body. When this restoration was done, all new front end suspension parts were installed. Drives tight and straight as if it were new. All new fuel lines wrapped and insulated. New electrical wiring. All new brake lines and cylinders. This Chevrolet boasts disc brakes on the front for safety, still retaining the drums on the rear.  New dual exhaust with quality mufflers. The front is lowered slightly with drop spindles, to give this wagon the perfect stance. No expense was spared during this frame up restoration. The windshield is excellent. Glass is very good too. Windows and vents roll up/down nicely as they should. Newer 15" Coker wide white tires with beauty rings. A nice spare and wheel is inclusive.

I will assist with transport for the buyer and be available for the transporters schedule. Transporting is at buyers expense. (International OK) It is hard to find the great ones that are reasonably priced! Bid with confidence, I am assisting my friend with this beautiful Chevrolet. The "Buy it Now" price is very reasonable for this quality of restoration. Over $47,000 was spent in the restoration process alone. The vehicle must be picked up within 30 days after auction end, unless mutually agreed. International buyers are welcome. PayPal will be used for non-refundable deposit only. Funds must be fully cleared before vehicle will be shipped. Wire transfer is preferred. Vehicle is sold as is without any warranty expessed or implied. Inspections are welcomed.  Not accepting bids unless buyer has a good EBay feedback. If you have no EBay history please call before bidding. No trades will be considered. Any questions or to make a comittment, call me. I am available daily before 9:00 PM, MST. 480-734-4545. Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.
