I was told this had been a local Arkansas car all its life. Has no rust damage I can find underneath or elsewhere. Lower passenger front fender has a crinkle spot and crease shown in pictures. This car is hard to describe, solid as a rock, great driver, I drive it everyday.  Has had interior which is correct. Has had a gas tank, fuel pump, and carb rebuild. Passenger door window is cracked. Original color, original equiptment. Has 2 speed electric wipers.  If you are looking for a survivor I would say this is it. Drive it home. I can help with delivery if within a couple of hrs of north central Arkansas. Paint code 607. Trim code 503. Radio delete. 6 cyl 235 runs like a sewing maching, 3 speed on column. You need to look at this car. I bought a 55 to build recently and traded for this one just because I couldn't resist it. I don't really need to trade, maybe other tri five chevy, what I am really looking for is a straight axle gasser. No projects. Car goes nowhere without full payment. thanks a lot for looking, send me your number if you want to talk. Jerry

On Jun-24-13 at 13:05:37 PDT, seller added the following information:

Just want to let everyone know that in 1955 it was possible to have cars  titled  with the engine number, at least in Arkansas. That's the way the car is titled, vin on title is 00124429F55Z which is the engine number. Car is licensed now and will be sold with clear Ar. title. I run it back a few yrs and the engine number is all that shows. Vin on tag is as listed above. If you take the car to another state and change engines you might have to apply for a new vin number, not sure on that. Thanks a lot, Jerry Huber

Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.
