1952 CHEVY BelAir two-door Hardtop Styline in beautiful condition and a pleasure to drive. Gorgeous maroon and
white color combination is a real head turner. The upholstery and dash match the exterior perfectly. The car was
painted in 2013 and has less than 1400 miles since completion (pictures of bodywork and paint come with vehicle).
Upgrades include rack and pinion power steering, power front disc brakes, tilt wheel and Painless wiring harness.
Under the hood is a 350 crate motor with Edelbrock intake/carb, headers, HEI distributor, aluminum radiator and
electric fan. The transmission is a 700R4 overdrive unit. Engine and transmission were installed in 2013.
New disc brakes were installed on the front and the rear drum brakes have been rebuilt.
In addition to the new upholstery, carpet and headliner, the interior received new Dolphin gauges, tilt wheel and
custom steering wheel. Windows roll up and down ok.
The two-stage metallic paint glows in the sun and is set of nicely with bright chrome and stainless trim. There are
some very minor dings in the trim and the bumper chrome has some thin areas from age. There is minor pitting in the
side window chrome.
The under carriage is in good condition and is covered with a factory undercoating over most of the floor and trunk
pan. There is minor surface rust on areas where the under coating has come off. The battery was relocated to the
trunk. The exhaust note is a mellow tone.
The Cragar wheels are in excellent condition and the tires look like new.
Car comes with a clear Oregon title.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car
Wed, 20 Feb 2013We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
