This is a nice, low mileage '53 Chevrolet. It only has 63k original miles on it and is in excellent overall condition. The car runs, drives, and looks very good. The body is straight and virtually rust free. All original body panels with nice floors, trunk, frame, rockers, spare tire well etc. This is NO Bondo buggy and the nice body is one of the main reasons I bought it. It has had only one repaint and is still it's orginal color. Paint is older (@ 1980) but still shows/shines very nice with some here and there touched up chips etc. Interior is stock and is nice and clean. To my knowledge, everything on the car works- including lights, turn signals, gauges, wipers, horn, radio, and heater (not sure about the clock). I added a set of (4) new seatbelts with the old style chrome airplane latches. The drivetrain is original to the car and in good working order. The motor is the factory 235 c.i. 6 cyl and the transmission is the original 3 speed manual. It runs and drives excellent. It will get in the mid to upper teens for gas mileage and I drive it quite regularly, probably 3 or 4 times a wk. It always starts right up, runs cool, holds good oil pressure etc. It is dependable enough to be your daily driver if you want. Like I said, I drive it alot and am not afraid to go anywhere in it. Brakes and full exhaust have been re-done not too long ago. All glass is in good shape with no cracks. The windows roll up and down normally and it has a factory Fulton visor. I added a few teeth to the grill, including a gold one. It is sublte and I love the look but it/they are easily removed if not to the new owner's taste. Tires are wide white wall bias plys with probably 80%+ tread left. I bought the car with plans to cut it up into a custom but have decided against the project. I planned to have the top chopped, suspension drastically lowered via modified Mustang II, and to swap the original drivetrain to a tri-power 348 w/ auto transmission. I have been driving the car stock for the last year or so and realized that this one is just too nice to take all apart and cut up. It is too cool like it is. I usually have hot rods that are so drastic they are nearly undriveable, but this one has been fun being able to use it as a normal car. It seats 4 comfortably, doesn't bottom out or scrape therefore you can go anywhere, has a big trunk, doesn't guzzle gas, is dependable and just fun to drive. I am selling to buy a 50-52 Cadillac coupe and basically cut it up... I can answer most any question you have on the car so please don't be shy. The car comes with a clear Ky title in my name with current insurance and registration.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Dec 2012Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible is the track car for sun worshippers

Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?
