1986 Fleetwood Brougham.  Car is really straight, the paint is pretty good but has had paint work on portions of the car at different times, so there are some noticeable color matching issues.  This car has had ALL of the bumper fillers replaced on it within the last year, so you won't have to worry about that issue for another 20+ years, or pay hundreds of dollars to replace them because they all crack on these cars eventually. The top has some splits in the vinyl, but there is no bulging anywhere that would indicate rust issues underneath whatsoever.  This car seems to have spent almost all of its life parked inside a garage, there are no signs of sun-fading on the interior and even the window sweeps are crack free.

The interior is really nice.  The carpet looks almost like new, the seats are in good shape and don't have any rips or cracks. The dash doesn't have a single crack anywhere.  Both front arm rests have minor cracks, but the car will include a replacement arm rest for the passenger side.  The headliner is pinned up into place.  This car has the Delco/Bose stereo and it sounds surprisingly good.

The climate control unit works great, the heat and defrost work good.  The AC cycles, so it's probably low on refrigerant, and it uses R-12, so it would probably be wise to convert to 134-A instead of paying a fortune for R-12 to fix and fill it.

Mechanically this car runs great and gets 23-24mpg on the highway.  The engine doesn't smoke and runs smoothly and pulls cleanly.  The transmission shifts and runs perfectly with no flaring shifts or problems.  The front suspension and steering are really tight, all of the ball joints and steering components are free of slack.  The shocks are noticeably worn, so it "floats" a little, but it tracks and drives really straight.  The tires are around 50%, but are beginning to show some cracking from age.  They are drivable, but showing their age.  I have driven this car on a 400 mile round trip within the last year, so I wouldn't be worried to drive it anywhere.

The odometer reads 4,xxx miles.  My title says "Mileage Exempt" and the prior owner bought the car about 13 years ago, so I doubt there is any carfax information out there, but I haven't looked it up.  If the odometer said this were a 60k mile car it would be easily believable.

Overall this car is a really straight and original car that is reliable to drive.  It would be a great car to restore because most of the expensive stuff is there and in good shape and it doesn't have rust issues.  I am only selling it because I simply have too many projects right now.

Thanks for looking!

Cadillac CTS-V spotted with big exhaust, new grille?

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

If you thought Cadillac was content to leave its twin-turbocharged Vsport as the range-topping CTS, think again. Behold, our first good glimpse at the next-generation Cadillac CTS-V sedan, sporting more aggressive styling (somewhere under there), meaty quad-exhaust pipes, and what very well could be a new face for the V-badged Caddies.
Creating an all-new grille design seems like an awful lot of work just for a prototype, so it's very possible that the vertical-bar treatment you see here could make its way into production. Our spy photographers have pointed out that they've seen this same sort of grille treatment on prototypes for the smaller ATS-V sedan, and we've heard V-series models may soon have greater differentiation from the standard vehicles that sired them - that seems especially necessary if Cadillac insists on expanding this whole Vsport range.
Regardless of how its front end looks, the CTS-V ought to be a real monster. Industry sources say we can expect to see a supercharged version of General Motors' 6.2-liter V8 under the Caddy's hood, and considering the current car already makes 556 horsepower and 551 pound-feet of torque, we wouldn't be surprised to see a decent increase in both of those numbers. After all, one of the CTS-V's main competitors, the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, is currently putting out 550 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Could this mean a 600-hp Cadillac is on the horizon?

Cadillac confirms CT8/CT9 flagship, ELR successor

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

Cadillac has certainly been a hot topic as of late, what with Johan de Nysschen now running the joint, moving its headquarters to New York, and overhauling the company's naming structure (only to later publicly defend all of these drastic decisions). Now, looking ahead, de Nysschen is already revealing some details about what's in store for the future, including a raft of new products that include a large, long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class rival positioned above the recently announced CT6, along with a successor to the slow-selling ELR coupe.
In an interview with Reuters, de Nysschen says his company has "just signed off on" a new flagship tipped to be called CT8 or CT9. It will compete with the long-wheelbase versions of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series, and should come to market by the end of this decade.
Among other news, the South African executive said a followup to the ELR plug-in hybrid is in development, though it may not be a two-door coupe like the current car. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since the ELR has garnered nothing but slow sales and poor reviews since its launch.

Cadillac's new ad campaign to tell you how to get lucky

Thu, 05 Sep 2013

Cadillac is set to launch a new ad campaign this fall, as it attempts to maintain the momentum established by new models like the ATS. The campaign comes from an agency called Rogue, and according to AdAge, will lean on American values. It's called, "Work Hard. Be Lucky."
The campaign is fairly self-explanatory, just from the tagline. It's meant to make a Cadillac seem more attainable to the average, aspirational buyer. It does kind of pander to that American idea that everyone's hard work gets rewarded, but as ad campaigns go, that's not a bad thing.
Somehow, it doesn't roll off the tongue quite like "The Standard of the World." As AdAge points out, Cadillac's advertising over the years has lacked a real coherent theme, although we'll admit to enjoying the most recent campaigns, particularly the around-the-world jaunts with the ATS. It's unclear if the "Work Hard. Be Lucky." theme will evolve into an actual tagline for the brand, with Caddy spokesman Dave Caldwell telling the advertising mag, "It could very easily end up being a line of copy along with other lines; we don't really know yet. It's an open question as to how dramatically it will be featured."
