This car is one of only 88 cars ever built in Pearl Flax. 1993 is the final year of production for Allante and the only year to get the upgraded Northstar V8. The bodies of these cars were designed and built by the world-renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina, who are also the designers behind some of Ferrari's greatest models. This particular Allante is a lifelong Arizona car and has been well cared for, and always garaged. The front bumper does have some minor rock chips, which is to be expected. The convertible top is like new and seals up very well. The top mechanism was recently serviced to compliment the immaculate condition of the fabric itself! Overall the exterior appearance of this car is a 9 out of 10. The interior is in great shape all around. The leather seats are all in very good condition with no tares or rips and nearly zero wear to the driver seat, which shows the quality of leather used in this car. The dash and door panels are also in like new condition. The carpets are all very nice and have been professionally cleaned. The floor mats are brand new, and are custom embroidered. All dials and controls function, as they should. The sound system is also very nice with the Bose Premium sound and both the CD and Cassette player work great. Overall the interior appearance of the car is a 9 out of 10. Mechanically, this Allante runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. It drives as good now as the day it rolled of the lot. The eight-cylinder engine is quick and responsive, all while being very fuel-efficient. The motor was pulled to do an entire reseal to ensure everything is up to proper OEM specifications. During that process, the car had new motor mounts installed as well. The suspension was recently gone through and serviced to prevent those pesky codes from appearing. The climate control system works correct and blows both Ice Cold as well as nice and toasty Warm. The car just received an oil change and a once over by a 25yr Cadillac dealer tech and was given the green light. Car is tight and right with no leaks to speak of. All in all, this is one of the cleanest and nicest Allante's that we have had the privilege of being associated with. It has been professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners. Opel director Sedran to succeed Docherty as Chevy Europe boss
Wed, 26 Jun 2013When longtime General Motors executive Susan Docherty announced she would be stepping down from her post as the head of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe, there was some idle chatter that plans for the creation of a new global overseer position for the Bowtie brand was behind the move. And while US sales chief Alan Batey has indeed assumed control of Chevy worldwide since her departure announcement, Docherty's vacancy is being filled after all, with Opel chief strategist Thomas Sedran taking up the reins.
That's according to Automotive News, who reports that Sedran will be tasked with pulling Chevy out of a sales funk, much of it pegged on Europe's stagnant auto industry, which has sunk to a 20-year low. AN notes that Chevy's EU sales plunged 32 percent to 57,584 units through the first five months of 2013, but the everyday value brand is faring worlds better than Cadillac, which has sold just 167 units in Europe over the same time period.
Sedran, 48, has been in the auto industry for over 20 years. Most recently, at Opel he had been working on long-term plans for the marque, and was appointed to the brand's management board in April of last year. Prior to joining GM, Sedran was employed as a management consultant for AlixPartners, where he worked closely with Opel for six years. Sedran will assume his new duties beginning July 1.
C7 Corvette won't spawn new Cadillac XLR [w/video]
Fri, 23 Aug 2013Between the new 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray and the even newer Cadillac Elmiraj Concept shown off at Pebble Beach, we were already expecting some sort of chatter of a Cadillac XLR redux. During an in-depth C7 Corvette discussion with Tadge Juechter, the car's chief engineer, Fox News asked if a Corvette-based, Bowling Green-built Cadillac will be built off the C7. Non-spoiler alert: the answer is no.
Juechter says that General Motors has "no intent" on transforming this car into a Cadillac product since the C7 has been optimized for the Corvette buyer, a consumer that's generally a different sort of person than a Cadillac intender who might also be cross-shopping a Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or BMW 6 Series.
While we're not ready to write off a future XLR altogether, we assume that the Corvette Cadillac experiment is most likely never going to happen again. The interview with Juechter is posted below, but the XLR discussion comes in at the 9:00 mark.
Cadillac ATS-V Coupe caught undisguised ahead of LA reveal
Tue, 28 Oct 2014Vsport versions of the CTS and XTS sedans are all well and good, but what Cadillac enthusiasts have really been looking forward to is the arrival of the next full-on V model. And here we have it.
Spied in the nude during an apparent photo shoot ahead of its anticipated debut at the fast-approaching Los Angeles Auto Show, the upcoming new Cadillac ATS-V Coupe is set to pick up where the old CTS-V left off, only in a more compact form. Unlike previous spy shots of heavily disguised prototypes, this final version is showing a chrome-framed mesh grille, along with a deep lower air dam with what looks to be a carbon-fiber front splitter. That bulging hood with heat extractor vents is tipped to be packing a twin-turbo V6 engine, breathing out of quad exhaust tips.
The aggressive aero kit also encompasses side skirts, a reshaped rear bumper and a lip spoiler on the truck, while the upgraded rolling stock wears serious low-profile rubber and the brakes appear to be carbon-ceramic units. Peer through the window and you can even see the sport bucket seats with slots for racing harnesses. All of which suggests a serious American challenger to the BMW M4 and its ilk, and we're looking forward to seeing the vehicle in the metal in LA next month.
