This is a clean and restored 72 skylark. I bought it about 8 years ago here on e-bay. It was brown and needed a little work. I had it professionally stripped down and all rust repaired and re-painted Buick stratomist blue (not the original color). Spots on the fenders and radiator support were replaced, the trunk and floors were okay. The engine was and is fine but it was removed and painted. I am not sure if it is the original, if you need to know tell me where to look. The three speed auto works fine as well. New wiring was installed at time of restoration. I also upgraded to power assist brakes last summer, a much needed luxury. I tried to re-use all original buick parts, so for the most part the car is original. I have the original radio and 8-track player. The a/c components are all there, minus one hose, so it does not work.  The only minor thing left to do to the car is to replace the window weatherstripping, the dash has a crack, and a few odds and ends. The picture of the convertible top shows a 1 inch tear in the top above the door. The mileage shows 92,000 but it I do not know if it has rolled over, so I have it listed at 192,000 to be safe. Please ask questions if you have any concerns.

I am not a dealer nor do I want to be. I am going to lose a ton of money on this car but I did not buy it to make money. I bought it to fix-up, enjoy, and move on to another project. Please ask questions and I have alot of pics of the restoration process. I have great feedback and I plan to keep it that way. I will deliver it for free up to 200 miles of Tyler, Tx.

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.

Buick Riviera Concept hits the floor in Shanghai

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

Here we have a concept in the true sense of the term. The Buick Riviera you see here - the name of which was last used in production back in 1999 - is said to preview Buick's future styling direction, which means we should expect to see more flowing body shapes to go along with new versions of the marque's classic waterfall grille design. Oh, and we don't believe there's a single porthole in sight.
Powered by Buick's so-called dual-mode wireless plug-in hybrid electric vehicle propulsion system (we'll stick with the W-PHEV acronym) that allows the car to be charged wirelessly just by driving atop a special charging mat on the ground, the car's powertrain is just as futuristic as its exterior shape.
Other high-tech bits include holographic projections on the windshield showing the driver what's around him, with input coming from 10 high-res cameras and 18 micro high-precision sensors. The car also sports 4G wireless connectivity so that its occupants are always connected.

Answering The $30,000 Entry-Level Luxury Question
Twenty years ago, a comparison between an entry-level Buick and Acura would have matched a Skylark against an Integra.
Twenty years ago, a comparison between an entry-level Buick and its Acura equivalent would have matched a Skylark against an Integra. The unfair battle would have resulted in the compact American's defeat in nearly every measurable category, as the Japanese competitor was arguably at the height of its powers.
