1970 Buick Gsx on 2040-cars
Valles Mines, Missouri, United States
The engine has been rebuilt, but I will get into specifics below. It really is a rare opportunity to even be around an original paint 70 GSX. Most of them have been restored or wrecked in the last 50 years.
Body:
Original Saturn Yellow paint with the exception of the driver side door. The black stripes are all there. The
hood stripe has the most wear. It can be seen clearly in the video above. There are numerous dings and chips all
around the car, typical of a car that has been driven. Overall, there is no major rot. There are a few spots
where surface rust has popped through. This can all be seen in the video. Photos only go so far with description.
Interior:
With the exception of two aftermarket water and oil gauges below the dash, it is pretty much untouched. Both front
seats have separating seams in the seat bottoms, but the rest of the interior is in nice shape. The driver side
floor mat is getting a bit ratty, but the carpet underneath is still good. The radio works. Clock does
not...surprised?
Engine/Transmission:
The engine is NUMBERS MATCH original. It has been rebuilt sometime in the early or mid 2000's. The VIN is still
on the deck of the block, so it can be verified. I cannot find a number on the transmission case, but it is the
correct casting. The engine runs smooth with no weird noises or ticks/knocks. Clutch feels good and tight and
rows through the gears just fine.
Wheels & Tires:
Wheels are the correct WG Buick rallyes with BFG tires. The wheel chrome isn't perfect, but very presentable.
Spare wheel is also correct WG.
Weatherstripping:
The roof rail rubber is a bit dry and flaky but still doing its job. Door weatherstripping is decent. Quarter
window seals are decent. Trunk seal is there, but it's getting kind of scuzzy along the bottom edge.
Undercarriage:
I've had a pretty good look under there, and it appears that it's been cleaned up and blacked out under the entire
car. I think it would have been done at the same time that the engine and trans were out. There is NO rot. All of
the pinch welds and rockers are nice and clean

Cadillac, Buick and Chevy decisions impacted by worries abroad
Fri, 05 Jul 2013European Concerns Drive GM, But Beware Of The French Connection
GM's bid to rationalize Europe will impact the products that will be offered domestically.
It seems that Europe is defining the future of General Motors more so than its home North American market. Having axed Saturn, Pontiac and Hummer, GM has done a fairly good job of repositioning its remaining four divisions, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC. Cadillac carries the luxury banner. Chevrolet is aimed at the masses with cars and trucks along with a nod to performance thanks to Camaro and Corvette. Buick bridges the premium gap between Chevy and Cadillac, while GMC offers a hardcore work/upscale proposition.
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC
Sun, 06 Oct 2013American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.
