Very Nice Buick Skylark Convertible.  I've owned it for 3 years and took it on as a resto project just lost interest.

The engine and transmission run great.  A\C has been cleaned and new hoses blows cold.  New blower motor, Battery, Alternator,  all new wiring, new carpet, new seat covers, and door covers new heater core.
Engine and transmission have small leaks but no smoke, doesn't over heat, or slip.

New brakes dual boster pump and pads. Drums.

I stripped old paint and etched and primed.  I tried to paint but clear ran.  I tried to fix with wet sand and buff on deck lid.  It looked worse.  I just don't want to devote more time and may not turn out.  I pics of the process and repaired 2 rust spots it had.  Quarter had been replaced and were solid.  Pan is in good shape few small pin holes.
Car need little work and will make someone a great car.
One other thing, it needs new starter switch.  It works fine but I think the ground inside is bad because if you run the A\C on high it gets hot.  Luckly, I caught it in time.  Radio works just needs grounded to switch but was waiting till I got a new one.  Just never got around to it.
Seat and panels need cleaning.
Please Serious Bids Only.  If you want to make and offer don't be afraid.  I reserve the right to close auction early.  Cash or money order only.  Payment is due in 7 days of agreement or closing of auction.  You are responsible for pick up and will ship but not insure.  I posted pics of paint.  If you have any questions, just let me know.  I have extra dash, fender, hood and other parts that will go with the car.   I also have the tail light housing, door locks and mirrors.
Thanks!
. Needs top but motor and cage are good. Tires have less than 1,000 miles on them and rims sen in good shape. New front and rear coil springs, bushings and shocks.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?

Opel to be shuttered in China, but will restart Buick production in Germany

Fri, 28 Mar 2014

Opel, General Motors' troubled German brand continues its quest to reinvent itself and find solid profitability. In the course of that metamorphosis, the company has a bit of good news/bad news today. The good news is, it will once again begin screwing together Buick models for the American market. The bad news, though, is that it's being shut down in yet another country, China.
Let's start with the good news. The last vehicle Opel's Ruesselsheim factory built for the North American market was the early run of the then-new Regal, which is based heavily on the Opel Insignia. Production ran for just over two years, from 2009 to 2011, before moving production to Oshawa, Ontario.
Now, thanks to a 245-million-euro investment (just over $336 million), Opel will kick off production of a unspecified model for the US in the "second half of the decade," according to Automotive News. According to Opel, the new model will be announced before the end of 2014. You can begin your speculation about this new model down in Comments (we're wagering it'll be the Cascada convertible, sold here under the Buick umbrella).

Buick Adam a reality after all... but only in China

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

General Motors may have parred down its brand portfolio, but it still has more under its umbrella than most. That's why, while a company like Ford might market the same vehicle under its own name in markets around the world, GM uses different brands in different markets. But no two are aligned quite as closely as Opel in Europe and Buick in the United States and China.
What we know here as the Buick Regal is sold overseas as the Opel Insignia. Our Encore is their Mokka. Verano? Astra sedan. But one thing we don't get here is the Opel Adam. The diminutive city car is GM's take on the Mini Cooper, Fiat 500, Citroën DS3 et al. Launched at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the Opel Adam is named after the company's founder (like an ironic thumbing of the nose to the Ferrari Enzo). But while it's sold, like most Opels, in the UK as a Vauxhall, the prospect of it porting over to Buick seems slim to none. Right?
Sorta. While the Adam isn't likely to come Stateside, the latest reports (as yet unconfirmed by GM) suggest that The General is planning to sell the Adam in China where the Buick brand is also a strong seller. Local production could ensue, with prices targeting the Fiat 500 and engines - according to CarNewsChina.com - to include inline-fours displacing 1.2 and 1.4 liters with 69 and 100 horsepower, respectively.
