Fully restored custom 1965 Buick Gran Sport Wagon with over 40 k invested in restoration alone and took 10 years . Built by a retired Buick club member and was a labor of love . Big Block Nailhead 401 ( 445 Wildcat ) , Rare one year only 66 400 SP transmission , PS , PDB , Air conditioning , Tilt column , 66 GS seat , Power rear window ( works at dash and tailgate ) , 6 Passenger deluxe seat belts etc . Car was always in central Ca and rust free . Yes , it's a custom car with around 1000 miles on everything new or rebuilt . Started life as a nicely optioned Sport Wagon Gold ext with saddle int , 300 ci engine with 300 SP transmission . Idea was to build as if they would have built a late 65 GS Wagon from factory . Now has a built 401 with many upgrades such as Poston HN 400 cam , Rare one year only 66 Q jet intake / later Q jet 800 cfm carb , high volume water pump , Faso Oil pump and pick up , ported heads , stainless valves , adjustable push rods , petronix electronic ignition , later chrome alt , chrome valve covers and valley pan etc . Transmission 1966 400 SP ( 3 speed ) and rear end was completely rebuild with 3:23 Posi traction . Suspension / Steering has many upgrades as well . Quick ratio steering box , Eibach springs with rear airlift bags , Hotchkis front and rear sway bars , adjustable rear upper control arms , Kyb shocks with 15X7 front and 15X8 rear Buick Road Wheels on new BFGoodrich Radial TA tires . Car was completely taken apart and repainted base/clear including interior paint ( Over $8000 ) . Removed ( welded holes ) wide 64 Style side moldings and trim around door glass for more sporty / GS look . Gives it more of a hardtop look . I liked the side moldings removed so I pin striped plus found rare set of wheel opening moldings which I had restored / polished and installed . Has new GS emblems completing the GS look . All chrome replated , new lenses , stainless polished etc . All new interior with 66 GS front seat with folding armrest and I made brackets so seat will go way back for someone over 6 foot , mild custom interior and completely Dynomatted for sound deader even doors . Not pitting to chrome anywhere and restored dash pad . I added a 70 GS steering wheel I just like the look better . I could go on and on about car but best thing is to see in person . Car is 99.9 % done ( needs AC charged ) and high quaility . I don't use AC so I'd never charge it . Car is just as clean underneath as on top . You couldn't build this car for double my price and then you'd have to find a rust free one to start with which is close to impossible . Car comes with a lot of extra rare parts worth around a couple grand I'd guess . I'll have pics of under carriage by thursday and have a lot of other pics if you email me . Feel free to call or email with questions . If you'd like to have car inspected or come in person I'd gladly drive car to airport and pick you up . Thanks , Mike 831-726-7270

Hyundai, Buick dealer apologize in wake of Chinese baby social media incident

Sat, 09 Mar 2013

A very strange story out of China today, as Hyundai and a Chinese Buick dealer were forced to face allegations of using allusions to an infamous child murder on a social media site as a way of promoting the safety features of their respective vehicles.
The original sad tale goes something like this: On March 4, a man reported to police that he had left his infant child in a running Toyota RAV4 while he ran into a supermarket briefly. When he came back out, the vehicle and the child were gone. Later in the week a suspect turned himself in to the police; confessing to them that he had stolen a sport-utility vehicle, strangled the infant that was in it, and then buried the child in the snow.
As you might imagine, the gristly incident was covered massively in the Chinese media. (There was huge public outcry as well, as evidenced by the vigil scene, above.) "Changchun baby abduction" was very quickly amongst the highest ranking search teams of the China's Weibo social media site - an equivalent of Twitter in the English-speaking world.

Next Buick Regal to inherit styling cues from Opel Monza concept

Mon, 06 Oct 2014

Ever look at a concept car from a foreign auto marque like Opel and wonder what relevance it will have to you as an American consumer? Well, we'll tell you: at least as far as the Opel Monza concept goes, it could mean a lot.
Speaking with Automotive News at the Paris Motor Show, Opel chief Karl-Thomas Neumann said, "You will see the Monza when you see the next Insignia." And the Insignia, we needn't point out, is essentially ported over to American showrooms as the Buick Regal.
The relationship between the Regal and Insignia only stands to grow closer as Opel design chief Mark Adams has also been charged with tightening the bonds between the two automakers positioned on opposite shores of the Atlantic. Adams also intends to imbue the next Insignia with more "premium brand values" in order to "add polish to the brand." Which in turn means that the Regal will be designed to look more upscale, too.

GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC

Sun, 06 Oct 2013

American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.
