I have owner 6 of these Buick Roadmasters .    I bought my first one in 2006.  This wagon is my daily driver.  I looked long and hard for a blue on blue Leather Wood Delete.  I bought this car in Nov of 2009 with 93,000 mi.   It spent most of its life in Virginia and belonged to a Rexall pharmacist.  So it was owned by men over 60 who did not smoke and no kids.  And has been maintained by GM Master Mechanics.  I would drive this anywhere cross country tomorrow.  The pictures tell an honest story.  It has the factory V92 trailer tow package.  I put the hitch on.  It never had a hitch before.  I do not slick cars up for ebay pics, only for the buyer to travel far and be disappointed.  I have had that done to me and it is a bad thing.  The rear windows have the usual gm break. (they need help to close).  I disconnected the courtesy lights at the rear view mirror.  (they would not stay off)  The horn does not work.  It has a nice after market radio prof. installed.  The tires were in July of 2009.  They are good for 10 thou more miles.  Pro window tint.  I have most of the paper work on the car.  It is a great inter-state cruiser. In my opinion this wagon is rust free.  Car is for sale locally, if it sells I will take down the auction.  Ask a question and I will get more pics to you, include your phone # and I will call back or text..      Thanks   Island Tom

Buick celebrates 110 years by naming most significant model of each decade

Sun, 23 Jun 2013

In May of 1903, Buick began work on its first vehicle, the 1904 Model B, the first example of which was sold to a doctor in Flint, Michigan. That first sale was appropriate since later on, Buick became known as a "doctor's car." The Model B is the first of 11 cars chosen by Buick to highlight each decade of the company's 110-year history.
The 1916 D-45 Touring with a six-cylinder engine was Buick's highest seller that year, and helped push overall sales past six figures for the first time, making Buick the top-selling automotive brand. In 1931, Series 50 got an eight-cylinder engine, which helped the company survive the Great Depression. The 1936 Century was the first Buick that could hit 100 miles per hour, the 1949 Roadmaster had a supporting role in Rain Man, the 1953 Skylark had Italian wire wheels and the owner's name engraved on its steering wheel.
Then we have the iconic 1963 Riviera, the V6-powered 1975 Regal, and in 1987, the legendary GNX. With a turbocharged, intercooled V6 pumping out 276-horsepower it could hit 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. In 1999 Buick built the first car in China, the Century, and that country remains the brand's largest market.

J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.

Buick asks design students 'What could a Buick sedan look like in 2030?'

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

When you think of daring concept cars or emotional design-student projects, Buick probably isn't the first brand that comes to mind. It's not for lack of concepts; when General Motors ran down 11 concept-car highlights from Buick's 110-year history, three of them are from the past 15 years, with other experiments in that same timeframe like the Black Hawk, Centieme and Cielo left unmentioned.
But the company still thinks about them even if we don't. It ran a contest for students at Detroit's College for Creative Studies to create a Buick for the year 2030 that would incorporate future materials and transportation needs, and nanotechnology.
Best exterior design went to Sam Kenny for his Neo Classical Buick, Justin Salmon took honors for innovative material use, like having exposed algae on the bodyshell to generate energy, and Namsuk Lee nabbed best overall concept and best interior for his Buick Vision Sedan. You can read more about the design challenge and winners in the press release, and hear students talk about what went into the work in the video below.
