1966 BUICK RIVIERA GRAN SPORT COUPE!

Finished in "Burgundy Mist" metallic over burgundy, this splendid 50 YEAR-OLD classic shows just over 23,000 miles
on its working five-digit odometer. The actual miles is believed to be 123,000 but I cannot 100% verify this to be
true. So with that being said, you are looking at an exceptional Gran sport coupe! This 99.9% clean, dry rust-free
specimen features a great running 425 cubic inch V8 engine mated to the factory automatic transmission, bucket
seats, ALL NEW WORKING A/C with updated 134R refrigerant, original am radio plus glove-box mounted Panasonic
cassette stereo, special ordered roll-up windows, factory 15" alloy wheels and custom California license plate,
This classic Riv just received......within the last 500 miles...$11,000 in mechanical servicing at a renowned Bay
area service facility ready for driving anywhere. Highlights of the recent service include: rebuilt power steering
pump, new starter motor, new battery and cables, new fuel pump, transmission mounts, new ater pump, thermostat,
hoses, clamps and belts, rebuilt carb, new ignition coil and control module, all new gaskets, new timing chain, new
upper and lower ball joints, control arms and bushings. This big beautiful cruiser is being sold with clear and
clean California title and maintenance records.

THE BODY AND TRIM
The exterior of this car is in EXCELLENT, VERY NICE DRIVER-QUALITY condition throughout! The paint has a deep
lustrous shine to its finish with nice original contrasting chrome and trim pieces. The paint was refinished many
years ago by the previous owner and still presents well. I would rate the exterior of this car a solid 7.5-8 on a
scale of 1-10. Imperfections include some pitting on the original chrome and trim, light scratches, some rock nicks
and paint nicks and other minor blemishes. While a notch or two away from concourse quality, this is a beautiful
sunny driver that would present well at any classic car show.

THE INTERIOR
As I hope is articulated in the photos here, the interior of this car is in excellent condition throughout....very
good seat upholstery, nice headliner, original steering wheel, virtually PERFECT vinyl dash, nice door panels,
working odometer and groovy dial speedometer, cold air conditioning, good heat, nauge works and the auxiillary ice
classic stereo, working lights and blinkers. The factory temp gauge functions, the horn and factory am radio are
inop.

THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE
This classic Buick starts perfectly, runs very well with excellent torquey acceleration, smooth shifting automatic
transmission, superb braking with excellent power brake feel, buttery smooth steering and supple suspension and
smooth power steering. Overall this is one beautiful half-century old cruiser that garners attention everywhere
you drive it!

Opel Cascada is Europe's Buick convertible [w/video]

Wed, 17 Oct 2012

As we reported earlier, there has been much speculation regarding a Buick convertible of sorts. The most ringing endorsement of this conjecture comes today from General Motors Europe, as the new Opel Cascada has debuted on the interwebs. Opel calls the four-passenger Cascada an "athletic, glamorous midsize convertible." With a length of 4,697mm (185 in.), the Cascada is as long as an Audi A5, to which GM has said it would be slightly larger.
The Cascada, which is Spanish for waterfall, features a cloth convertible top that retracts in 17 seconds and at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph). The Cascada features a 1.4-liter turbo gas engine, 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 165 horsepower and a range-topping 1.6-liter turbocharged Ecotec engine that puts out 170 horsepower and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft). Power is sent through either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
According to GM, the Cascada will also come rife with luxury and tech features. In addition to adaptive forward lighting and ergonomic heated front seats, the convertible will feature Opel Eye, which is a front camera that can recognize traffic signs and incorporates lane departure warning and forward collision alert.

Buick Encore takes a hit of Mokka to tackle Dakar

Wed, 03 Sep 2014

There are many vehicles we'd consider taking racing. Even on a cross-country rally as punishing as the Dakar. But a Buick Encore? That's not one that would enter our motorsports-based consciousness. Yet it's basically what General Motors is entering in the South American rally raid this year, and you're looking at it.
Unveiled at the Moscow Motor Show, this rally machine is based on (or at least billed as) an Opel Mokka - the name that GM's European brand applies to the vehicle Americans know as the Encore, Buick's subcompact crossover. Only it's obviously been extensively modified. It's got a ten-inch raised suspension, a 137-gallon fuel tank, carbon-fiber bodywork and... hold on, we're sure we're missing something here. Oh, right: a 6.2-liter V8 kicking out 340 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox.
In other words, this is not the same Encore (or Mokka) you can pick up at your local Buick, Opel or Vauxhall dealership. It's not even close. It's not even recognizable as such, really. It was unveiled alongside a more sedate Opel Mokka Moscow Edition and a slew of other local debuts for the Opel brand that you can read more about in the (translated and original) Russian press release below.

Buick Adam a reality after all... but only in China

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

General Motors may have parred down its brand portfolio, but it still has more under its umbrella than most. That's why, while a company like Ford might market the same vehicle under its own name in markets around the world, GM uses different brands in different markets. But no two are aligned quite as closely as Opel in Europe and Buick in the United States and China.
What we know here as the Buick Regal is sold overseas as the Opel Insignia. Our Encore is their Mokka. Verano? Astra sedan. But one thing we don't get here is the Opel Adam. The diminutive city car is GM's take on the Mini Cooper, Fiat 500, Citroën DS3 et al. Launched at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the Opel Adam is named after the company's founder (like an ironic thumbing of the nose to the Ferrari Enzo). But while it's sold, like most Opels, in the UK as a Vauxhall, the prospect of it porting over to Buick seems slim to none. Right?
Sorta. While the Adam isn't likely to come Stateside, the latest reports (as yet unconfirmed by GM) suggest that The General is planning to sell the Adam in China where the Buick brand is also a strong seller. Local production could ensue, with prices targeting the Fiat 500 and engines - according to CarNewsChina.com - to include inline-fours displacing 1.2 and 1.4 liters with 69 and 100 horsepower, respectively.
