1986 Buick Regal T-type 3.8l Sfi Turbo W/t-tops Burgundy/burgundy on 2040-cars

Year:1986 Mileage:111604
Location:

Clanton, Alabama, United States

Selling the T-type to make room in the shop - no time to drive it and she needs a new home.  This car was maintained with Mobil 1 Synthetics and has a few minor upgrades that were done prior to my owning the car in the summer of 1988.  This car has a watercooled turbo but I still idled the car for approx 60 seconds prior to shutoff. 3-inch exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. Solid intake tube, new gas tank, fuel pump, sending unit and fuel filter.

Car is a good daily driver with minimal work -

Here's what I know of that needs to be addressed on the car to get it show ready:

-Needs to be painted - car has original factory paint that has weathered -
-Top of dash is cracked (Vinyl and the plastic grill need to be repaired or replaced)
-T-top gaskets, and window gaskets on the doors need to be replaced.
-Needs (and comes with) bumper fillers, hood badges, OEM style floor mats.
-Visors need to be re-covered
-Carpet on back deck (speaker deck) needs to be replaced
-AC isn't cold, but we had replaced the compressor with GM factory unit in 1992 before the car was garage stored around 1995 till sept of last year - definitely gonna need a recharge.
-Need center-caps for original wheels
-Hood blanket needs to be replaced to show the car
-Rubber bumpers (black) that ran on mid-section from front to rear were removed a long time ago when one started to fall off - so you'd probably want to get those to get it to the factory look
-Heater Core (comes with one, but hasn't been installed as of right now)

Runs great - I always ran this car with Mobil 1 Synthetic, always cooled down the turbo - even after water injected turbo upgrade was added.
New tires, new tank, fuel pump, sending unit, radiator.  New heater core *(not installed yet).
Serviced last month with Royal Purple trans fluid, differential fluid, and synthetic oil.
Seats, carpet, doors, and console are in great shape. All chrome is in excellent shape
Never wrecked - NO RUST, NO BODYWORK done except on front left fender had a grocery cart hit it and was repaired + parking lamp replaced

GM laying off 510 amidst slow Cadillac, small car sales

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

General Motors is laying off about 510 workers from two factories beginning in January, and it could be months before the automaker needs some of that latent capacity to come back on line. A combination of poor sales and high dealer inventories are prompting the cutbacks, according to Automotive News.
The largest changes come at GM's Lansing Grand River plant, where the Cadillac ATS and CTS are made. An entire shift of about 350 workers is being laid off, but the automaker hopes to find positions for some of them at other nearby factories. The decision leaves just a single shift building vehicles there. According to Automotive News, the move is partially spurred by Johan de Nysschen's plan to make Cadillac a more exclusive brand.
The lost shift will likely return for production of the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro at the plant, according to the report, but GM isn't saying when that will be. A previous announcement from the Canadian Auto Workers union indicated that the Oshawa, Ontario, factory would lose the coupe in late 2015 or early 2016.

Buick Encore blitzes first-year sales predictions

Sat, 01 Mar 2014

With its first full year of sales in the bag, it's safe to say that Buick has a hit on its hands with the Encore. US buyers have snatched up 31,046 of the small, premium crossovers since the Encore went on sale in January of 2013, while 97,311 were sold globally (not counting its counterparts from Opel and Vauxhall).
While we liked the Encore when we first drove it, we'll admit, we weren't sure how the tiny CUV would do. In fact, the first thing Executive Editor Chris Paukert wrote about the Encore was, "We admit it. We have no earthly idea how this whole thing is going to shake out." But it's done well, and has been subject to heavy demand over the past year, blowing away the estimates of analysts, who, according to an August story from Automotive News, projected no more than 18,500 units would be sold in 2013.
"Right out of the gate, demand for the Encore was high," Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick marketing said in a statement. "It accounted for most of the segment's growth last year and that's because it offers the right safety, technology and features in the right-sized vehicle for many customers."

Watch this phantom Buick drive itself down the highway in a snow storm

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

Years ago, General Motors used Buick cars to test out the idea of a "smart highway" concept. More recently, GM has been talking up its award-winning Super Cruise semi-autonomous technology that will roll out with Cadillac and make its way to Buick. The LeSabre in the video above has nothing to do with any of that.
On Interstate 15 in Utah, a man driving this LeSabre got into an accident that rearranged the front end and set the horn on permanent blare. At the time of writing this, no one is sure what happened next, but the man ended up sitting in the snow in the highway median while his car carried on down the highway without him. Passing traffic stayed well to the right.
The 51-second video below provides a different take on our autonomous future. A local newscast on KUTV covered the story the evening of the incident, but the Utah Highway Patrol didn't have any update on the fate of the LeSabre. We'll take that to mean that Buick's take on Christine could still be out on the prowl... so watch out!
